Ok, cool. Sorry, didn't mean to be rude...at least, not too rude...just trying to give the guys on here a laugh.![]()
I didn't mean to come off like a jerk either, well mostly.
I kid though.

I hope the predictions are wrong, and I have a sneaking suspicion they are.
Oh they're very wrong. Pirates all the way!![]()
Darn it! In my effort to sound like a stupid, ignorant fan, I was accurate to less than .1! I'm going to go stab my dog.
Forgive me for trying to add something to the boards. I will just post useless, negative, critical one-liner comments about everyone else's posts from now on. What's that you say? That position is taken?? Aww shucks!Originally Posted by belial

The Angels are not better than the Red Sox.
I watch 99% of the Angels' games, and their not better then the Sox (unfortunately). It's definitely arguable that Scioscia is a better manager than Francona though.

Angels ERA - 3.79, 7th in MLB
Red Sox ERA - 3.87, 8th in MLB
Marginally better in ERA, and thats with Beckett starting out slow and Matsuzaka missing about a month after starting out the season red hot. Basically a wash here though
Angels BAA - .255, 11th in MLB
Red Sox BAA - .244, 4th in MLB
Red Sox are marginally better here, but its basically a wash, as with ERA.
Angels # of QS - 49, 2nd in MLB
Red Sox # of QS - 45, 7th in MLB
Angels have a few more QS, but again basically a wash.
Angels Opposing OPS - .710, 8th in MLB
Red Sox Opposing OPS - .702, 7th in MLB
Again a wash.
By now you should see the point I'm trying to convey. The Angels pitching may be ever so slightly better than the Red Sox, but its basically a wash and unnoticeable. Both teams have had a few injuries to their staff as well.
Now, lets look at the offense.
Red Sox Runs - 428, 3rd in MLB
Angels Runs - 341, 24th in MLB
A pretty large disparity.
Red Sox BA - .280, 2nd in MLB
Angels BA - .255, 22nd in MLB
Again, a huge disparity.
Red Sox OBP - .354, 2nd in MLB
Angels OBP - .315, 28th in MLB (Ahead of only Washington and Seattle)
The pitching is so close between the Angels and Red Sox that any series between them would come down to the hitting, where the Red Sox are CLEARLY a far superior team. The Red Sox are pretty obviously the class of baseball right now and the only teams that can compete with them are the Cubs and Rays.
