I totally called it. My picks were Cincinnati and Pittsburgh in the NL, Kansas City and Tampa in the AL. Go underdogs!

Actually I think the Yankee prediction is generous. After all, they whipped out their wang at the wrong time and it got injured. It's really hard to put forward your best effort in that situation.

    HA!

    New York Yankees :

    Last 37 games
    23 wins - 14 losses

    Last 27 games
    16 wins - 11 losses

And the best part is... we haven't even reached the All-Star Break yet, where the Yankees usually go on to easily have the best record in the 2nd half of the season.

Also, the Yankees don't even really need to have CMW to win. Sure, he'd be nice to have, but with Joba in the rotation now, he makes up for CMW being hurt. Joba is already a top starter... he is SICK NASTY!

So true! The yankees have it all wrapped up! You guys are SOO STUPID for thinking otherwise! We have A-Rod and RoCa and MelCab, and despite our aging, HGH-loving roster that makes an average of 74 quadrillion dollars per at-bat, we are the BESTEST!

And we're TOTALLY getting CC at the trade deadline. From worst to first, every year! That's us! The fighting Yanks! We just have horrible aprils to give you guys a HEAD START! HAH!

As koolzach astutely observes, the Yankees are over .500 in their last 37 games, AND in their last 27! That's unstoppable!!

Minnesota Twins last 27 games: 17-10
    last 37 games:22-15
    World Series here we come!!!!!

With all seriousness though, the Twins could make a run at the playoffs.

    Re: SM's mid-season predictions

Delusional Yankee fans are hilarious, aren't they?

Seriously, even if Joba pitches lights out for the whole rest of the season, which he won't because hes still a rookie and hes going to have rookie "growing pains", one starter isn't going to get them to the playoffs. You never know what you're going to get from the rest of that rotation any time out and Joba's gonna take his lumps. Even when they do get a good 6-7 innings out of one of their starters Farnsworth is more than likely to give it back. And I hate to break it to you, but C.C. ain't going to New York any time soon, if he gets put on the market the Indians are going to take the best offer available, not the best offer the Yankees can give. Contrary to what some Yankee fans think, the rest of MLB isn't there simply to supply you with players. I know, its hard to grasp, but its true. Even the offense has been inconsistent this season.

Oh, and now that you used some stats, which are so selective to try and make your team look good its silly, let me use some.

    Yankees are:

17th in MLB in ERA, 8th in the AL (out of 14 teams), and behind or tied with the likes of the San Diego Padres (32-51), the Toronto Blue Jays (40-42), and the Cleveland Indians (37-45) and barely ahead of teams like the Giants (36-46) and Kansas City (37-45)

19th in BAA, behind Baltimore, Philadelphia, Florida, and Detroit, none of whom have strong pitching staffs

15th is Quality Starts, just barely in the "upper half" of the league, and again trailing teams like KC, San Fran', San Diego, and Toronto

If you can't even stack up with the worst teams in the league in pitching, how do you expect to deal with the best?

I don't even know why I bother though, Yankee fans are so stubborn its like talking to a rock.

Sure Joba has looked extremely good as a starter so far and moving him to the rotation has been a goof move. but hes already thrown 50 inning and hes never thrown more than 118 in a season (2005 with Neb) so there's no guarantee he will hold up through Sept. And even if Pettite and Mussina continue to pitch abnormally well, that still leave Rasner and Giese as the 4 an 5 starters. More importantly not having Joba in the pen is killer leaving the amazing duo of "Farnsy" an Hawkins.

I think you meant to say "past few years"?

But all grammatical errors aside, I was born about 45 minutes north of Boston, and lived in Massachusetts till I bought my first hour in Florida at 24. I went to my first Sox game at age 8. Mike Greenwell and Ellis Burks were my favorite players.

Don't assume that everyone that likes a winning team is a bandwagoner...after all, don't you state that your Yankees are 'the winningest franchise ever' and 'do what it takes to win at all costs'? Which, I'd assume, would generate much more fandom than us lowly underdog Sox, with just a paltry 2 championships in the last 89 years.

Listen, don't jump on me just because I state that the Yankees are playing good ball. Jesus.

I know, the Yankees have been less than impressive in most categories this season. I was just trying to state that the Yankees have been playing really solid ball lately.

I don't know why I bother, either... some people have comprehension problems. I don't want to argue with you man, and I don't want to be rude, but seriously... Yankee haters are just pathetic.

Hey, I was just kidding about you being a bangwagon fan... I was just a little mad because of your sarcasm that made you come off as very rude. I am sure that you're not a bandwagon fan...
