Not to mention that hes illogical in his arguments for many reasons. Do a little traveling through the country & you'll realize that cowboy hats are more popular in the midwest & west than the south (yes, i count Texas as more west/midwest than south).

Also, I could use the same "logic" to state that:
    Bears have hair
    I have hair

    Therefore, I am a bear

    I think that whole line of thinking is summed up in your sign off;

I was born and raised in Connecticut.
Connecticut was once pro-slavery, as can be seen from their handling of the Amistad crisis.

    Therefore, am I pro-slavery?

Your argument falls apart on so many levels....and it's more than a little racist in and of itself. For it to even BEGIN to be have merit, you would have to be able to argue that all southerners today are still pro-slavery.

Cowboys -- and by extension, cowboy hats -- invoke the West, not the South. The South wasn't known for cattle and ranches (that is, cowboys), it was known for cotton and plantations. Most of the states that would be known for having cowboys weren't even states yet during the Civil War -- Texas being the one exception.

So, your "explain to me which of these things is not true" is pretty simple; it falls apart on the first point.

I do believe that most southerners are racist against African-Americans to this day.

Explain to me which of these things is not true:

Cowboy hats are often worn in the South (True)
The South was once the Confederacy (True)
The Confederacy fought FOR slavery (True)

Therefore, using the transitive property, Cowboy hats are pro-slavery.
    1) so are shirts, shoes and eyeglasses, therefore all people who ever wear shirts shoes and/or eyeglasses are pro slavery. ( I always knew MLK had a pro-slavery agenda)

    2) you obviously have no idea what the transitive property property means, transivite property has to do with thing being equal.

    3) Cowboy hats do not have anything to do with the south, all the southern states were not in the confederacy, The south didn't fight solely for slavery.
therfore cowboy hats have nothing to do with slavery.

    4) Metsguy234 made an uninformed statement (true)
People with low intelligence often make uninformed statements (true)

    Therefore Metsguy234 has low intelligence.

    5) why are we discussing this at all? why am I? at first I thought he was being sarcastic, then he tried to defend himself, more than once! why have we spend 3 pages discussing someone making a pointless statement.

    WOW!!!

Maybe it's time to look at that statement and realize exactly what you are saying. Maybe that statement acurately reflects how you feel, maybe it doesn't. I, personally, would like to give you an opportunity to amend that comment if it isn't exactly what you believe.

That is exactly what I believe.

I know for a fact that the red states were racist at least in the 60s, when segregation was alive and well, and it took a Northerner (JFK) to stop the South's horrible racism.

as hard as it is to argue those facts & gems of knowledge you just gave us, i'll point out that if the south were as racist as you seem to believe, then one would think that clinton would have won more delegates in the primary over obama (instead she only got kentucky, tennessee, florida & arkansas)

the first black congressman came from...wait for it...south carolina in 1870 (voted in, but congress forced him to vacate his seat...a congress made up primarily by northerners)

the first 3 black senators came from southern states & the first 20 black house reps came from southern states

half of the current black house reps represent southern states

ok, im done feeding the troll
