    Bud Selig Announces New Team
    Pittsburgh is moving to Portland


    October 16, 2007- Four days after Pittsburgh's exit from the playoffs, commissioner Bud Selig and the Pirates organization announced that the team will be moving into a new city for the 2008 season. The move has been kept under wraps by the MLB and the Pirates for the past four years. The team will be moving into Portland with a brand new deluxe stadium that has been under construction for three years. The new expensive stadium answers a lot of questions that people have had concerning the Pirates minimal expenses since 2004.

    Pirates fans were shocked after the announcement causing a plethora of life long fans showed up to PNC park to protest the move holding up pictures of past Pirate legends such as Roberto Clemente. One fan seven said. "I feel like my dog got run over in front of me." It defiantly is a sad day in Pittsburgh.

    Portland mayor Tom Potter took some time out to talk about the teams move. "I've been a huge baseball fan my whole life and I've known about the move for quite some time now. And seeing this team succeed more and more over the past four years has been great. And this team is going to be great for the city as we've been waiting for another sports team for a while. I'm extremely exited." After that we headed to a press conference which showcased the new logos and jerseys for for the new team.
