interesting. i agree with most of it.

but if billy doesnt blow those saves is willie still here ?

the lack of "fight" in the Mets is a bit embarrassing.
    that is a manager issue.

Not to nitpick, but he did win a division title in '82 with a very average Atlanta team, and he almost won another one in '83. That's not to say that he had an especially impressive managerial resume, but it's not exactly NOTHING.

    to rephrase a bit

Some doofus puts on "fav team jersey" and suddenly thinks

    one can ADMIRE it.
    one can RESPECT it.
one can "strive for the characteristics of" (fav team/player)

can one truly "take pride" in something one had no part in ?

    anyways

    this just in

    Willie's still fired.
Mets fans are hilarious. Are you proud of your 2nd class organization?

Anyways... I think fans can take pride in their team. If you're a fan of a team, and that team does well, you cannot tell me that you would not take pride in that team... if you do tell me the latter, than I have to question your "fanhood", sir.

If your favorite team won last year's championship, then you can brag. Anything older than that and its not worth hearing about. Likely a good portion of the players from a team 2-3 years ago are different now.

Taking pride in your team's history is one thing.

Being an arrogant prick because you're team has a great history is quite another.

This bickering is why hardcore fans annoy me, no matter what team they root for.

I'd much rather be a hardcore fan, than a fair weather fan.

I'd much rather just enjoy baseball. That's just me though. To each his own.

    Go Giants !

Honestly, as far as the Yankees are concerned, I only dislike the arrogant people that associate themselves with them.
