This is the same way I feel. I usually get bored with such fast paced dynasties, but this one's different.

Well im glad to hear that you guys are enjoying it. And as far as cheating goes, id be doing a bad job at it haha. I dont really know how im winning, my pitching is performing mediocre at best, and my hitting leaves a lot to be desired. Luckily my division is really week, except for the cubs who are living up to their fame as dissappointers.

Echoing everyone else i've got to say you're doing a great job with your posts. You might have a future in publishing or something. The layouts are great...I might have to...umm...pay homage to them in my own dynasty

    September 26th

    Anything is possible!!!

With all odds against them in a tumultuous season, the Pittsburgh Pirates have clinched the National League Central!

The 2008 Pittsburgh Pirates have clinched the National League Central Division for the first time since 1992. Pirates captain Ryan Zimmerman was very emotional after the clinching game.

Zimmerman: "Wow, I can't even believe it. When I was first traded here, well, my first thought was: 'Wait. I'm being traded for WHO?' But after it sank in, man, I just thought we would have a lot of work to do. I give so much credit to the other guys that come out with me every night and play their hearts out. We worked so hard to get here, when no one thought we would. It means so much to win the division with such a historic ball club. I'm proud to be a part of this and I can't wait 'till the first series. Our trip isnt over yet."

The Pirates won the division by 4.5 games, and finished with a record of 88-74.

Im so pumped. i didnt expect this much the first year. i still have realistic expectations of how we will do in the post season though... our stats against teams with winning records... leave a lot to be desired. :/

    September Review

An average 13-15 month brings the regular season to a close, the second place Reds were only able to gain a game on us all month. But for the first time in 16 years we have won the division. No small feat.

    Complete Standings

    AL:

    NL:

    Pirates Injury Report

Zach Duke is still on the DL, but will only miss game one of our opening series with the Phillies. Other than that we have our starting catcher Ryan Doumit due to miss the first 3 games with a pulled hamstring. We also will have Tom Gorzelanny have his start pushed to game 3, as he will miss 3 days (2 games) with a pinched ulnar nerve.

    Team Leaders:

    ERA: Ian Snell (4.10)
    Wins: Ian Snell (18)
    Ks: Tpm Gorzelanny (186)
    Saves: Matt Capps (57)

    AVG: Ryan Zimmerman (.317)
    OBA: Ryan Zimmerman (.382)
    RBI: Adam LaRoche (112)
    Runs: Nate McLouth (121)
    HR: Nate McLouth (30)
    SB: Nate McLouth (24)

    League Leaders:

    AVG: Miguel Cabrera (DET) .353
    HR: Ryan Howard (PHI) 56
    SB: Jose Reyes (NYM) 75

    Wins: Josh Beckett (BOS) 21
    ERA: Chien-Ming Wang (NYY) 2.70
    Ks: Jake Peavy (SDP) 238
    Saves: Matt Capps (PIT) 57

    Pirates Hot Pitcher:

    Matt Capps

    Honorable Mention:

    Ian Snell

    Pirates Hot Hitter:

    Nate McLouth

    Honorable Mention:

    Ryan Zimmerman

    Prospect Watch:

    Justin Masterson (76/92)

    Max Scherzer (78/93)

    Andrew McCutchen (74/93)

    Tim Beckham (54/95)

    Pirates Finances:

slight economic growth yields a year-to-date profit of $39 million

Our cash reserves are now over $43.1 million.

Strong economic showing over the course of the year, should lead to big decisions this off-season.
