Is this some kind of a joke?

I'm in a league where something very weird happened:

    Dennis Sarfate:

    2007 (with BAL)- 62/0 G/GS, 69.1 IP, 5-6, 3.50 ERA
    2008 (with BAL)- 39/0 G/GS, 37.1 IP, 4-6, 6.51 ERA
    2008 (with DET)- 25/0 G/GS, 23.2 IP, 0-1, 3.80 ERA
    2009 (this season thru 2012 with BOS)- 34/34 G/GS, 206.1 IP, 12-9, 3.88 ERA
    2010- 27/27 G/GS, 189.0 IP, 17-9, 2.90 ERA
    2011- 31/31 G/GS, 218.2 IP, 24-5, 2.22 ERA
    2012- 29/28 G/GS, 203.0 IP, 23-0, 1.82 ERA

What happened here and how can I get this kind of success on my squad?

How is his DICE during these years? How old is he during this time period?

Two things immediately come to mind:

    1) He finally reached his peak after some good development elsewhere.
    2) The 'Sox are just that much better than the other teams. That would explain the wins and lower ERA very easily.

He got put into the starting rotation and succeeded.

It happens, in real life and in Mogul.

In one of my sims, Justin Masterson spent the first 8 years I think of his career as a two-inning reliever for the Red Sox, usually appearing in 45-50 games and throwing 90-100 innings. They put him in the starting rotation, and he went 26-1.

That isn't too realistic, though, HGM; sure, there are the Ryan Dempster's and Joba Chamberlain's of the world, but no one will leave the bullpen and become a starter and have that kinda success.

Put a good pitcher into the starting rotation with a really good offense behind him, and yes, he could win 26 games. Won-Loss record is highly dependent on the offense behind the pitcher. He did pitch really well, with an ERA in the low-3's. It's certainly possible.

If I understand you correctly, you are in an online baseball mogul league and not in baseball mogul online. If so, before the next spring training begins, take the most recent .mog file, and sim up to spring training. Put some relievers in to your starting rotation and test if they can effectively make the transformation from reliever to starter. If so, inform the commish at the appropriate time you want him placed in the rotation, and with any luck, you may find a decent, or (hopefully) great, starter.

^^ I'm more of an apples and bananas guy myself, Joe.

Didn't Rick Sutcliffe go 16-1 with the Cubs one year? I only say that because they mention it about, oh, every freaking time he does an ESPN broadcast.

It happens all of the time in my league. Sarfate, Street, Broxton, Alderson, Husbey, etc (Some of those might have been drafted). If you find players who haven't peaked yet and they are relivers, they have the potential to be good starters.

All aof those are real, assuming you're saying Dennis Sarfate, Huston Street, Jon Broxton, Tim Alderson, and Chris Huseby.

I converted Broxton to a starter in my game and he won 2 Cy Young Awards...

With a 2.69 ERA, and he started the season 4-5 5.15 with the Indians.

Ace pitchers (Sabathia/Beckett et al.) aren't winning 26 games right now in the majors, even with great teams (Sabathia, Beckett et al.). I find it extremely hard to believe that Joba or Dempster is going to win 26 games in the next couple of years.
