    BBM 2009 Reviewed by IGN

I really respect IGN's game review knowledge. I feel really let down by them here.

What's the problem with their rating? I feel that they rated it fairly here.

That's probably the most on-point, even-handed, well researched and accurate review I've ever read: film, book or video game. I don't know what you're complaining about. Every single one of their complaints were right on.

I just personally felt that through its imperfections deserved more closer to an 8. With 6.8 being the average game rating by IGN, 6.2 makes it just passable as a game. I hadn't thought that all of the little things would add up so much. Sorry if I came off as whiny.

Frankly I'm impressed that this guy actually took the time to play and research the game at all. Usually you get really shallow reviews that are obviously done by a guy who spent 15 minutes with a game. This guy clearly has played the game, and even better he pretty much spells out what the game needs to improve: AI, AI and more AI.

Absolutely agree. That is a dead on review. I'm emotionally attached to baseball mogul, but the AI/Financial issue seriously NEEDS to be redone.

Perfectly done, laid out...this guy was very fair and even-handed. It's clear that he enjoyed some of the pieces we enjoy, but was put off by the overwhelming flaws in those parts of the game - AI, talent retention and development, etc. He understands where the game is coming from, and where it needs to go to keep the current fans happy.

Having played this since the original, the review is right on. The AI and other things need major fixes.

We keep spending our money hoping that this is the year it's right, but it's funny--i see things that were wrong 5 years ago that are still wrong today.

I know it's a small company, but the flaws are major, and we all agree that they are there.

Most of us play the competitor, but I don't want to invest the time it takes to play their game. There's no reason this game can't get things right.

    I hope.

Well the review on on a basis of all Computer game, so the sound and graphics (which in the game are essentially nil) cause it to get penalized. while 6.2 may seem low, for anyone one looking for a text-base baseball sim if would weight higher.

That thread had me intrigued by the assertion that the next-gen (PS3 in particular) games have finally caught up in terms of the sim side of things. Tony LARussa 3 was what leadme to BBM, and High Heat pulled me away for a couple years. Getting a PS3 later this year... will need to look into the new crop of games.

The review seems incredibly fair to me. The real driving force to BM is this forum, this fan base that essentially beta-tests the game full time. Other than that (although it's a big plus), BM lags behind quite a few other baseball sim games.

I could not agree more. BM is fine for a quick game when I am very short on time, but compared to OOTP 8 it falls way short in every area except sim speed, which is a shame really considering Clay was the first to release such a baseball career sim and thus had a head-start. And with OOTP 9 being released this week the gap will become even bigger... so, that IGN score seems reasonable to me. I hope this motivates Clay to drop Football Mogul and finally spend some time on the core engine of BM

    Best,
    Martin

I agree with the critic. This review is extremely accurate.
