When you say Group X IS something PERIOD...that seems pretty blanket to me.

I thought everyone knew blanket statements are always wrong. WTF Why would anyone assume anything is a blanket statement?

Right, because no one ever speaks in general terms.

And yeah, he covered his *** but you have to be pretty friggen dense to claim he didn't mean to call me a jerk in his passive-aggressive manner.

When they do, they generally don't say it in a way that leaves no other options. For example, you later said "Boston fans are generally jerks." That's speaking in general terms. "Boston fans ARE jerks, PERIOD" is not speaking in general terms.

Like I said, I didn't count on people being that dense. Obviously, what I meant is now clear. Let's get on to what swampdog meant.

Swampdog : Look, I am in no way aggrieved to see Boston-area fans getting a ahnce to celebrate success. Boston does have an incredibly passionate fan base, no doubt about that at all. I just get annoyed when I make a PREDICTION, then am suddenly getting called out as foolish and deluded when a PREDICTION doesn't bear out. Dickishness annoys me, call me crazy.

I agree wholeheartedly that smugness tends to be directly related to sustained success. Definitely, if the Yanks AND the Giants AND the Knicks (I could barely add them and maintain a straight face) were all winning titles, NY fans would be acting exactly the same.
