I seriously doubt anyone thought they KNEW 100%. Maybe that's just the Boston fan perception problem showing up again.

Of course, the Lakers will 'say the right things.' They are a great franchise with a great front office and a gracious coach. The only thing the 6 game series showed objectively was Boston won 4 out of 6 in a short series. That's not enough games to change what I saw over a season and the preceding playoffs.

Who's feelings are hurt? I was just trying to let Boston fans understand the perception that they have around the nation and they can try to change if they want.

Thanks Belial, I cant speak for anyone else, but I will give that (the fanhood thing) the consideration it deserves. I will say that the Lakers were slightly more gracious than I expected. I don't think much of Bryant as a teammate or person (from what I know), and I did enjoy the fact that he basically was neutered at the end of each game, except for one, maybe. His "Kobe-the-assassin" thing took quite a beating in the view of many.

Heh so what? KG had a reputation as a pathetic loser, now suddenly (with paul pierce carrying him) he's an emotional champion, a great winner. Kobe will dominant in some more playoff series and get back his street cred - don't worry about that.

People have short memories when it comes to just about anything in sports, it seems. I dont think that Garnett was considered a "pathetic loser".... thats a little strong. Was Pierce a pathetic loser......before he actually had talent around him? Don't think so.

As for Kobe-the-assistant..... thats what his legacy will be, I hope. He did help win titles when he was Shaq's assistant, and he drove Shaq away because his gigantic ego couldnt stand being the #2 guy, with Shaq getting all the credit. He deserves losing, and I hope it continues.

Give credit where credit is due. Just because you hate a team, a city, or whatever, doesn't mean that their winning is because they got lucky. In order to win 2 World Series in 4 years in this day and age, you have to be doing something right.

The complaints about Boston fans are baseless anyway. There are great fans in every city, and each team has its share of obnoxious, unruly fans (especially LA and NY.... just cant help it). Exactly what do Boston fans do differently than other fans? Nothing except celebrate, because Boston is enjoying an unprecedented era of winning. Are fans smug? I dont see how. Their teams win, so that makes them happy. Would Chicago fans be any different? Or New York Fans? Houston? I doubt it. If so... how, exactly?

What irritates people...like the posters in these forums... is not how Boston fans act... its that Boston fans get to celebrate so many winners over the past few years, and there is envy and bitterness. Its a feeling that they dont deserve so many champions... and that NO fans deserve so many, unless, of course, its THEIR team thats doing all the winning.

This is nothing new. I remember the feeling that Oakland did nothing to deserve 4 WS winners in the 70's and 80's (they didnt even support their teams, attendance wise). Why did Chicago deserve 6 NBA championships in the 90's? They didnt, really. You didnt think that those fans were "smug" and "obnoxious" when it came to the Bulls? They were. I remember it quite well. Bulls fans at that team led the league in "smugness", and, due to Jordan, they did win. Over and over again.

Boston's run wont last forever. No team wins all the time. The poor Yankees havent won this century (yes, I LOVE saying that), and the Lakers havent won in 6 years now. Jeezus, boohoo. I can tell you that, from an outsider looking in, no one is more annoying than Yankees fans, although the Lakers fans are close.

If I have a choice between having my teams lose, so "other" people wont hate Boston fans, or have those teams win championships, and be perceived as somehow smug and undeserving......I'm going to have to take the championships every time, and not care who doesnt like it. I rather doubt that fans of any other team feels differently

It's not that Boston teams have been winning - I don't hate San Antonio fans. It's just that Boston fans are generally jerks.

So...how many Boston fans do you know personally? I know several dozen... and you can count the jerks on your thumbs. You know, this is pointless. You claim that Boston fans are jerks. Ok. I dont comprehend your position. Based on the tone of several of your posts, no doubt some think that you are a jerk (remember the pipe comment? Was that really called for? Or were you just being a jerk?)

Think what you choose, no matter to me. My team just won another title, and I'm happy. I dont ever let another persons problems/bitterness effect me in real life, and it certainly isnt going to bother me in an online forum.

Like I said, the Celtics still won.
