Anybody got an MLB.COM account???

If someone has an account there, does it allow you to view games already played??? I really wish someone could look at the bottom of the 11th inning of the Braves/Cubs game.

I'm pulling for the Cubs, but I think they got away with basically a stolen game today. But the thing is even the Braves didn't say anything. And the announcers after the game never said anything, and never showed a replay of the play I'm concerned about.

No outs, men on first and second in tie game of the bottom of the 11th. Aramis Ramirez is the guy on second. The Cubs hitter hits a single to left. Ramirez is running hard around third, when the third base coach puts up the stop sign. NOW HERE'S THE IMPORTANT PART. I swear Ramirez, in his momentum going forward, put his hand out and made contact with the third base coach. I thought, if the baserunner makes contact with a coach, he's out. Isn't that the case????

If anyone has a way to go to MLB.COM and can view the replay of the bottom of the 11th, would you post here what you see?? Its really got my curiousity up, I'm almost sure he made contact with the coach.

Big difference between bases loaded and no outs, and men on 1st and 2nd and one out. Big difference. Next batter was hit by pitch and game over. Cubs win. (Which is a good thing)

I have an MLB account, but it's for audio only. Sorry, I'm too cheap I guess. Besides, I like to do work while I listen to the game...makes me feel like i'm coding back home in Boston.

I have DirecTV's MLB Extra Innings, so I'm not springing for either. If you have the account for MLB.TV, does it let you watch a part of a game played earlier in the day?? Or would you have to record it, like on DirecTV. If I knew beforehand, I would've recorded it on my DVR.

Do you know if its an out or not if he did make contact with the coach? I always thought that was an automatic out, but not sure. It's really got me curious because of the way the TV telecast never mentioned it, and I know it sure was close.

My understanding is that a coach can't assist the runner, like pushing him off or pulling him back or anything like that, but it's not an automatic out for incidental contact. Basically it's a judgement call for the umpires as to whether contact constitutes "assistance."

Here is the section of the rulebook on runners. Rule 7.09 includes these mentions of coaches:

It is interference by a batter or a runner when[...]
(g) In the judgment of the umpire, the base coach at third base, or first base, by touching or holding the runner, physically assists him in returning to or leaving third base or first base.
(h) With a runner on third base, the base coach leaves his box and acts in any manner to draw a throw by a fielder;

Thanks JayC. I was wrong in assuming its an automatic out then. However, in this case, Ramirez put his hands out to stop and go back to third, which is assisting the runner, IMO. That is, IF he made contact. I still can't find anybody with an account to rewatch the bottom of the 11th and take a look. WGN never showed it over (no big surprise there), and I NEVER saw one replay. It's just really got me curious, especially because the Cubs won on the next pitch, AND what might happen if the Cubs beat the Cards or Brewers by 1 game in the Central. hey, it could happen.

Been a lot of talk about replay for home runs and foul balls. IMO, that play was HUGE, and at least warranted a second look.

OFG, I have MLB.tv and yes you can go back and look at yesterday's games which is pretty sweet. I looked at the play in question and it looked like ARam put his hand out and touched the coach as he was coming to a stop, but the camera angle is bad and you cannot tell for 100% sure. But if it's not an out then it's a moot point anyway.

Interesting. The way that rule reads, it doesn't seem really to say that the runner couldn't use the coach to stop himself. Technically it says the coach can't assist the runner by "touching or holding" him... but it doesn't actually say that the runner can't touch or hold the coach (all of which sounds a little like a whole different topic, but I won't get into that).
