    Enuff already.

I am so sick of this arguement. Maddux is in. Glavine is in. Smoltz is in. Why argue? Also, all 3 will have a good year in 08. They just play for inferior teams (minus Smoltz)

My question though is Randy Johnson in? Although the sim hates him in current years, he is actully having a good season and will end up with a top 5 strikeout total.

Randy Johnson is first ballot too

I think he will reach 300 wins and he might be the best left handed P of all time

One Steve Carlton and Sandy Koufax would like to speak with you in regards to the best lefty of all-time. Lefty Grove and Warren Spahn want a word as well.

How many does he need for 300? I know he is close, but he might not make it. He is 44 and will be 45 in Sept. I think he will make it (HOF) on dominance alone though. Unlike pitchers like Pedro Martinez who dominated for 5 years or so, Randy scared batters for over a decade. Plus he is super high in Ks in the steroid era

Hes at 288, so he needs 12 more. He could get it this season, but it seems unlikely to me that he will. He'd probably have to stick around for next season if he wants to reach 300, and Randy does seem vain enough to do that.

You call Randy vain? This is the guy who got the "meet your daughter, she is 16 and needs money for college". After paternity tests proved he was the father, he got great attorneys to not only negate the claim but got a long term restraining order against his own kid. Great pitcher, but big gaping asawipe. HOF does take this into consideration.

    Vain, as defined by m-w.com:

having or showing undue or excessive pride in one's appearance or achievements
The Hall of Fame is SUPPOSED to take that into consideration but as far as I'm concerned, they really don't. If they did Ty Cobb would've been kicked out (murderer), Fergie Jenkins never would have made it (drug addict), and Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and countless others never would have made it or would've been kicked out (womanizing, drinking, etc.)

    Sandy Koufax is overrated.

only 11 years and 165 wins

reminds me a lot of Jim Brown, sopped to early to be regarded the best of all time.

Randy has to be in the argument for best lefty ever.

As far as off the field issues, they are off the field, grade the ball player by on the field performance.

He may be in the argument, but Carlton, Spahn, and Grove all have far better cases for it than he does, IMO.

I think you are misguided here, Koufax retired due to injury. He could still pitch, but not without pain.

He also had three Cy Youngs and retired with at least 6 years to go in his career if it was not for his injury.

Wait, you're saying you're sick of the argument over whether or not Maddux, Glavine, and/or Smoltz, get in, but you're questioning whether or not Randy Johnson should/will?

He's sick of that argument, Houston, so he wants to start another.
