I have never seen a pop up for a player entering the Hall of Fame, even though I always keep the box checked. Is this just me or something that is currently broken?

The box you are thinking about, actually just shows players who are going to enter the Hall Of Fame before they actually do.Originally Posted by rogue9

Right, if the box is checked, if you view the Hall of Fame, you'll see players before their "Induction Date." If the box is unchecked, you won't see players until they're actually inducted.

ohhhhhh I was wondering why guys were in there early. That sorta makes sense I guess. A pop up would be kinda cool though, especially when running a long term dynasty. I forget to check the HoF regularly.

A news story would be better, in my opinion.

A news story would especially be good. What I would also like to see is a way to sort through the news stories so that I can look at only one category at a time and not have to wade through every story to get to the one that I want.
Anyway, yes, it would be cool to be informed when a player makes the hall.

You can. Click "Show All" and then on the top there's a dropdown box where you can choose to filter by some categories.

Or perhaps an editable new story? I dunno, but I definitely agree with Ohms and rogue, news story is the best. And thanks to all for clearing this one up for me, because I thought checking it meant a pop-up would occur as well, but I thought the reason I hadn't seen any was because it somehow would only apply to "my" players. I now realize how stupid that is, becasue the game probably has no idea who "my" players were once their in the retired section anyway. Always good to learn something. Thanks again to all.

I second the editable news stories.
As a journalist by trade, I'd love it if baseball mogul had an editable stories feature like OOTP (which, as a whole, I don't enjoy as much as Mogul).
I'd really like to play out the games and write in my own brief stories. It would just add a hint of realism to the games and make allow players to make a bigger connection with their teams.
