We're also going to compare him to another GM, and say that he's better than that GM. So, while listing all the bad things that the GM we're saying is better has done, we only mention three things that the worse GM did - never made the World Series, pulled off a masterful trade, and traded or let go guys that were about to make a ton of money which that GM didn't have.

I'm sure i could find lots of things about both the style and substance to complain about or counter,
but considering i will never bother to read another article there... thats kinda pointless.

For me, I have no interest in FJM if this is how they treat people. I realize that doing such is 'cool' and 'trendy' these days, but that article was way past common human decency. It is fine to criticize the post, but not in the manner in which they did it, in my opinion.

They go over the top for humurous effect. The guys at the Cohn and Cohn blog wrote entries about what FJM said and they also emailed Junior at FJM, and then said that Junior responded civilly and decently.

I don't find that acceptable or an excuse, especially when it is not a very public figure. It is no different than making fun of the unpopular kid at school so your buddies will laugh.
Good, he should act that way all the time. Nothing wrong with thoughtful criticism with some humor put in. But the way they did that one is inexcusable.

See, I can't stand when professional baseball writers write such stupid things, like claiming Sabean is a better GM than Beane by listing all the bad things Sabean has done and a couple good things Beane has done. So, I think it's good that there's a site like FJM out there that actually calls the writers on the nonsense they write, even if they go over the top at times.

It is both the tone and the style that is unacceptable. Cohn is not Joe Morgan, or Tony Kornheiser or a major public figure. Sure, he has been a member of the BBWAA since 1981, and a post like that from someone of those credentials is due criticism. It is good that their is a site that will call him out. It is the manner in which they do it that I find inexcusable. I am guessing they lack the skill to criticize, entertain, and not belittle others, but that is based on a small sample size (because any time I have read an article there, I rarely finish it due to the tone/style).

For what it's worth, I rarely go to the FJM site, as I find it to be petty, vicious, mean-spirited and juvenile. Its so easy to pick apart, line by line, what others say/write ( look no further than these forums), and to offer your own opinions as if your views are the ultimate, the final word, so to speak.
With the internet, more than ever, everyone is an "expert". Every 15 year old child with a computer is now an authority on everything...sports, entertainment, politics, everything. As far as ex-jocks go.....sure, they are a fountain of worn out cliches and the conventional wisdoms of their sport. Does it get a little tiresome listening to them at times? Sure. Does it get old when you have to listen to people that dont know half as much as you do (or, in your perception, at least),? Well, yes. Welcome to reality.
Its pretty normal for an individual to believe that he/she knows more than everyone else. Many delude themselves into thinking that what they believe has far more value than the views of others. I attribute this to immaturity and self doubt, partially, and character flaw, primarily. Of course, this is just my opinion....how I see things.
But I will add, that one of the things that I dont like about all forums online, including these, is that anyone can pretty much post any opinions they choose, along with the mandatory ridicule of anyone who may see things differently. This is not to say that I have not been guilty of this myself...I'm sure I have been at times, although I try to avoid it. However, I do not support any site whose sole purpose is to ridicule and demean others. (See the Fire Joe Morgan site)

I have to admit that FJM has lost it's charm for me. I'm not opposed to the sight like some of you are, but it gets old fairly quickly.
