Considering how many baseball players have their little superstitions, I can see wanting it removed. To make it sound like a capital crime and blow it all out of the proportion like the Yankees have is silly. If the guy really wants to mess with them, he should start a rumor there's another one he buried at the site, but not say where it is. Doesn't matter if it's there or not of course, because then they'd wonder...

Do you think they would have dug it up if it was a Mets fan or a Tampa fan?

I was going to mention that before. I highly doubt they would've dug anything up that wasn't Red Sox related.

Maybe not. By the same token, do you think that the Mets or Tampa management dug up a "cursed jersey" at either of their stadium they'd be as heavily criticized?

    The jersey wasn't "cursed".

Hank Steinbrenner (and his father) love to exaggerate everything (Red Sox Nation- what a bunch of expletive that is...LOL). A shirt inside of a pillar will do absolutely NO HARM.

That guy gave me an idea, I should call Hank Steinbrenner:

Me: "Hello, is this Mr. Steibrenner speaking?"
    HS: "Yes."
Me: "Steinbrenner, I'd like to inform you that I buried 10 Red Sox shirts at various classified points throughout your new stadium."
    HS: "Oh no!"
Me: "Tell the media, they should know too."
HS: "Oh, yes, I'll call the media right away!"

LOL, that would be soooo funny....

Good Thing they dug up that jersey: since then

    Ortiz; 7gms, .281(9-32) 1HR, 9RBI
He went from .070/.231/.140 to .160/.267/.240.

Hopefully, you don't actually think the two are connected.

Now finding out the buried Whitesox Jersey under my house would give me pause or even a buried goat.

As a Red Sox fan **** YEa! After the Yanks making such a big deal over it its awesome to think that they cured Papi's Slump!!!!

But no really, look firther into the number and you'll see he no better than he was.

His 1 HR came on a Fenway hit that would have been a can-of-corn pop out anywhere else, of his 8 other hits at lest 3 were week flares that got lucky to fall in and he has 1BB / 4K IN Those 33 Plate apperences.

**updating for monday, maybe he just needed to play Texas where he went 7-16 with 11 RBI in four games, Few things can cure a hitting slump like Texas' pitching staff

Or, it's very likely that it's just simple statistical variation. If he had this "slump" in July, it'd be barely be mentioned, if at all.

It looks like the Yankees might have found a cure, and something that will give them better luck in their new stadium:

He was always a classy guy
