    Re: Break up the Royals!

Man, I love to see the Royals win a few good games like these. The Pirates, too, in that awesome late-inning game. I would love to see a Pirates/Reds NLCS and Royals in the ALCS. Just to get some different names in the 'above .500' crowd. Course, I'd still be rooting for the sox in the end...

I didn't even know Loria owned the Expos before. But man, they ship everyone off now - even Tampa Bay tries to retain Crawford, Baldelli, Kazmir and some others...they don't just send everyone packing as soon as they're arb-eligible. It must suck to be a Marlins fan.

Still, the Marlins do have two championships...but I think there was some actual payroll for the '03 run, right? Lowell and Beckett at least...

Didn't Charlie Finley try and sell off all of his players from the great A's dynasty because he didn't agree with free agency? And didn't the commisioner or somebody step in to stop him from doing it? I don't understand what the difference is between that and what Loria has done over the last 3 years in Florida..

I find it funny that the Marlins have won 2 championships since coming into the league in '93, and yet they don't have good crowds. I mean, they've had some great players come through their system. It's a pity that they can't keep some of the big time players, like Cabrera, Beckett, Willis, Lowell.

Hopefully they'll hang on to Hanley Ramirez, Dan Uggla, and a few others.

But I'm a huge Astros fan, and they've won more Championships with a smaller pay roll than the Astros ever have, sooooooooo...can't complain there.

It's (basically) all in his Wikipedia article, if your interested: Charlie Finley

    Loria Must GO.

Oh, and back on topic -- Royals complete the sweep and are currently baseball's only undefeated team. Ain't the early season fun?
