Borker: Thanks! I never had the chance to check that, and I only finished the d/l a short while ago. So it sounds like the game's still a little skewed (big market teams winning far too many games and being overdominant) but not to 08's degree? Excellent!

Most do. That's why I find the comment amazing. I'm not sure Clay's wife even likes the game?

as a follow up to a previous post, I was just wondering if there is anyway to get players ratings to show up the same at the beginning of the 2008 season every time I start a season up? I play this game with a few friends and having the ratings pop up the same for all of us makes it easier when looking through the players we might want to get. I have tried with the randomize box checked and unchecked and really do not see the difference. Either way guys such as Jose Reyes might show up an 88/88 on one season, then say an 88/93 the next time I start the game up. I am checking ratings in commish of course.

Yes, my wife loves this game.

Just one of the many reasons I love my wife.

Edit: She really likes the depth chart and overall look. She's still getting used to it, and the depth chart seems to help a lot.

I've only had one little hiccup. When I put someone on the trading block, Jim Thome (He was a 3B) was one of the options. I clicked on him, and the person on the table was another 3B named Van Pope. I just tried to see if it would accept (Pope had 87 rating, Thome had 75, this was in 2009 season) and it wouldn't.

All I had to do was go find Thome on the roster, but I just thought it was weird.

Only thing I can think of would be to have one of you create the game file, then have your friends download it. THen you're all using the same file. Basically run your own mini league.

Hi, long-time lurker (and BM player), first-time poster here. I just wanted to say that 2k9 is great! I haven't had a chance to really explore the game (my d/l finished a few hours ago), but I like what I see so far. I'm loving the depth chart, CPU trade block... and the crowd noise -- well, it's not that annoying. Anyway, keep up the great work!

    Re: BBM09 Comments??

The crowd noise annoys the &$*#@ out of me.

Following up on borker's report I ran the game through seven seasons to see how competitive balance looked. Uhm....well, I don't think it's as bad as 08, but it still needs work.

    2008:
    Most Wins: Yankees (110)
    Least Wins: Nationals (64)
Noll-Scully: 1.76 (Low is better. 1.65 or so is right for modern ball, 1.9ish in the '70s)

    Teams over 114 wins: 0
    Teams over 100 wins: 2
    Teams less 60 wins: 0
    Teams less 48 wins: 0

    Average division lead: 7.8 games
    W Series: Yankees def. Brewers

    2009:
    Most Wins: Cubs (106)
    Least Wins: Giants (57)
    Noll-Scully: 1.84

    Teams over 114 wins: 0
    Teams over 100 wins: 1
    Teams less 60 wins: 2
    Teams less 48 wins: 0

    Average division lead: 6.2 games
W Series: Cubs def. Red Sox

    2010:
    Most Wins: Rockies (102)
    Least Wins: Brewers (51)
    Noll-Scully: 1.89

    Teams over 114 wins: 0
    Teams over 100 wins: 2
    Teams less 60 wins: 2
    Teams less 48 wins: 0

    Average division lead: 5.0 games
W Series: Rockies def. Red Sox

(So far so good. The league's actually stabilizing. Then we hit Y4)

    2011:
Most Wins: Rockies, Red Sox (103)
    Least Wins: Blue Jays (55)
    Noll-Scully: 2.20

    Teams over 114 wins: 0
    Teams over 100 wins: 2
    Teams less 60 wins: 2
    Teams less 48 wins: 0

    Average division lead: 5.2 games
W Series: Rockies def. Red Sox (again)

    2012:
    Most Wins: Red Sox (110)
    Least Wins: Royals (53)
    Noll-Scully: 2.33

    Teams over 114 wins: 0
    Teams over 100 wins: 3
    Teams less 60 wins: 2
    Teams less 48 wins: 0

    Average division lead: 13.7 games
    W Series: Rockies def. Indians

    2013:
    Most Wins: Indians (114)
    Least Wins: Giants (47)
    Noll-Scully: 2.54

    Teams over 114 wins: 1
    Teams over 100 wins: 3
    Teams less 60 wins: 2
    Teams less 48 wins: 1

    Average division lead: 14.5 games
W Series: Red Sox def. Rockies

    2014:
    Most Wins: Red Sox (110)
    Least Wins: Royals (51)
    Noll-Scully: 2.44

    Teams over 114 wins: 0
    Teams over 100 wins: 5
    Teams less 60 wins: 4
    Teams less 48 wins: 0

    Average division lead: 11.5 games
W Series: Red Sox def. Dodgers
    *******

    Total Wins: Top 5 teams
    Boston 699
    Cleveland 699
    Colorado 678
    Atlanta 655
    ChiCubs 643

    Least Wins: Worst 5 teams
    San Francisco 437
    ChiSox 439
    Toronto 464
    Kansas City 466
    Houston 482

So....I do think it's a little better than 08, but not quite yet.

It's quite interesting how fast that Noll-Scully number rises...

Having a problem with defensive substitutions in PbP. when I choose a player to come in off the bench and click "replace" it put in the player under the one I chose! Also, showing players on the bench that are already in the lineup. Anybody else having this problem??

    Re: BBM09 Comments??

    But can you:

    1. Import Mike Scmidt and Steve Carlton on the 2008 Phillies?

    2. Does it come with the 2008 opening day rosters?

    3. Can I set my season schedule to just 6 games?

    4. Can I import the 55 Brooklyn Dodgers into the 2007 season?

    5. Quick sim an inning or half an inning and still continue a game?

    Re: BBM09 Comments??

    1. Import Mike Scmidt and Steve Carlton on the 2008 Phillies?

Theoretically yeah, but it would work the same way you'd do it in 08. You'd need to manipulate the Phillies roster in the .csv file. I'm not sure how you do that, but I saw in the mods section where someone posted the roster data for each year.

    2. Does it come with the 2008 opening day rosters?

It comes with rosters. Their accuracy may or may not be disputed, but to a casual gamer (moi) they look about right. Except that one of the Rockies players is dead. (Taken care of in another thread)

    3. Can I set my season schedule to just 6 games?

I thought Houston answered this. Yep. You probably can't change "League Editor" to 6 games, but you can pick the template you want to load, then change that template so each team only has six games.

    4. Can I import the 55 Brooklyn Dodgers into the 2007 season?

Same as with Schmidt/Carlton. Not exactly sure how you do that, but yes it's possible.

    5. Quick sim an inning or half an inning and still continue a game?

    That's a definite nope.
