    Shouldn't the question be "Who would you rather have on your team, if you had to choose between the two?"

    As BM gms, we could each answer the question by imagining them both in the same draft, and it's our turn to pick.

    For myself, it would be no contest -A-Rod...mainly for the reason that I've stated before -longevity.

    well your draft senarios heavily depends on who you got already on your team though, if you had a Mike Schmidt in his prime already at 3rd you would prbably pass on Arod and take Santana...
    Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are .

    Or if you had Cal Ripken at Short... Totally true...now if you had the first pick, I would pick A-rod.

    ARod would put butts in the seats every day. Santana only every 5th day. If you're an owner, that aspect cannot be ignored.

    Is that a joke?

    If you want to expand it out to every player, and not at all adjust for when contract was signed/arbtiration/whatever, there are a lot of players who provide more value per dollar than Ortiz, A-Rod, Santana, and any other high-paid superstar.
