Johan Santana has a career record of 93-44. He has a 3.22 career ERA. He has struck out 1,381 guys in 1308.2 innings. He has two Cy Young awards on his shelf. He led the American League in strikeouts in 2004, '05 and '06. He's left-handed. What a ripp-off! It is obvious the Mets go hosed in this deal

It's official now, the Mets have signed Santana to a 7-year, $150.75 million contract , making it the fourth largest contract in MLB history and the second per year contract.

This is a 2 part deal great for the first 3 or 4 years & then ouch....but considering the player & the resources of the Mets (new stadium,TV channel & Wilpon fortune) then they get the best left handed pitcher in the game for 22 million a season & almost guarantee themselves the division into the '10's .

Johan Santana is 1-3 with a 3.97 ERA in the playoffs. Alex Rodriguez has hit .279/.361/.483 in the playoffs. Neither of them have played up to their regular season status in the playoffs, and here is why: SMALL SAMPLE SIZE.

Santana is the greatest pitcher in the game. Rodriguez is the greatest hitter in the game. October doesn't change that.
