    Bedard for Jones?

There has been rumors that the Seattle Mariners have acquired Erik Bedard from the Orioles for outfielder Adam Jones and others.

I'm not big on Adam Jones so I'm pretty happy with the deal. Who's the lefty specialist now? Arthur Rhodes?

I thought that same question. After a while of thinking, I remembered that Eric O'Flaherty did a decent job last year. He was 7-1 with a 4.47 ERA.

I guess that the Orioles haven't signed off on the trade.

I dont think that the trade is a good one. Jones will be a stud.

Depends Bobby,Jones may be a stud or he may not - his 2 years of "cups of coffee" haven't shown him to be a Upton as yet .Also Seattle in OF have another supposed stud in waiting in Balentien so the loss of Jones (if the trade happens) is less than for some other teams.

Bedard has now reached the plateau of being one of the top 5 left handed pitchers in the game & is still controllable for 2+ years & is signed for a "cheap deal".As Seattle is set up they need Pitching more than hitting (remember your rotation last year after Washburn & King Felix). With a rotation of Bedard,Washburn,Hernandez,Ramirez or Morrow, or Baek they would be in a position to contend not only this year but for next 2/3/4 seasons.

As always,a trade can only be seen "down the road",but the Mariners' if they are being so aggressive is that they really believe that in 08 the team can beat the Angels for the division.

Nah, I am not fure trading prospects...Do you remember the Soriano Trade. With that trade itself, Bavaci should have lost his job.

If the Mariners trade Jones, one of their chief options to fill that vacancy is Luis Gonzalez.
YOu have got to be kidding me.

If they trade Jones, they really should go for a guy like Brad Wilkerson over a guy with no upside like Luis Gonzalez...

Hinske would be nice fit too & cheaper than Brad....but looks like the deal is dead/on hold for some reason.

This is getting really tiresome. Hey, Angelos, we need a right fielder if we trade Jones. Can you just greenlight the stupid trade already?

King 5 news have reported that a Baltimore radio station has reported that one of the reasons that the Orioles havnt signed off on the trade is because the Orioles believe that Jones has a hip injury.

No love for Miguel Batista? He was awesome as the third starter last year.
