Probably just a crappy team and the Y4 (Y5?) problem working together.

Uh....no. This happened in Y1. They're completely unrelated.

Re: To Rule in Kansas City

You may have read of my recent computer problems. I highlighted them here.

The good news is I have a new computer which I installed today, and so far it isn't showing the slightest interest in speaking Wingding.

The bad news is I was unable to port over any files, including my saved games, due to a combination of the above mentioned font problems and the failure about 2 months ago of my old CD drive. Therefore this adventure has come to an end.

I regret it. I hadn't decided whether to go back to this, stick with the Indians dynasty, or (eep) try to do both...but it certainly wasn't the plan to end both of them so abruptly.

I'm going to take a few days to try and set things up as I'd like, then I'll be back to try yet again.

Thanks for your continued support, folks, and sorry about this.

This truly is the end of an era.

Thank you for the ride, Cat! I would say that I hope your next project becomes a parallel to this one in the Pantheon of Greatness, but that would be foolish.

I know your next project will be every bit as good as this one.

Good luck, and I will definitely be reading!

Not meaning to bump this all the way to the front..but I had to comment this.

To Rule was the first dynasty I have ever read. And it remains my favorite. I loved Trapped, I love ETB and I love Diverting Destiny and Cardinal Sins as well...but To Rule, for me, tops them all. I love Charlie Finley and the drama. I love everything about this dynasty and I wish it was still going and I could see KC push for a pennant...alas.

Re: To Rule in Kansas City

Thanks, oregon and all. I really appreciate your kindness.

As you know, my life's been changing a lot recently. Learning to share your life with someone is...well, a challenge.

A friend of hers expressed interest in my old 'puter, strange languages and all, so I meant to go in there anyway and see what could be salvaged on my new flash drive. (If I learned anything from losing that 'puter, it's that flash drives can be real nice to have.)

I'd delayed going in, but after reading your comments I made the plunge to see what was left. Needless to say, my old system still prints everything in wingdings...but there's nothing wrong with the icons. After awhile I got lucky and found a familiar looking green diamond....grabbed the whole &$!)@ directory and read it on my new 'puter.

    See for yourself.

Re: To Rule in Kansas City

It means I can try. I loaded the file and it looks more or less intact.

I'm going to take a day or two (or more, depending on how often I can get over here) to reread this monster and try to figure out what was going on.

The main problem is my notes from this are long, long gone which means I'm trying to rebuild from reading and memory.

    Hopefully more soon
