The Angels don't have room for him, though.
Where? I don't think he'd want to be a long relief man and here's the SR I think they'll have next year.
1. John Lackey. Possible AL Cy Young Award Winner. Still only 29.
2. Kelvim Escobar. Easily an ace on almost any other team. Is coming of three extremely good seasons.
3. Jered Weaver. Didn't quite have the year he did in 2006, but still good with great deception.
4. Joe Saunders/Ervin Santana. and 5. Ervin Santana/Joe Saunders. Both of them are still young and looking for breakout seasons.
Where does Colon fit in there?
#5 or #2, depending on Colon's health.

Why would you put him at #2? He's not that kind of pitcher anymore. Maybe #5 though. But I really don't think they'll resign him.
The "number" is irrelevant.
They have 5 possible starters right now. Do you know what the attrition rate of pitchers is? Lackey and possibly Escobar are the only two they have that they can count on a full season from. Weaver's had some injury problems, Santana has been wildly inconsistent, Colon himself is a health risk. Having 6 pitchers not a bad thing. You start the season with a rotation of Lackey, Escobar, Colon, Weaver, and Santana, with Saunders as a long man, ready to step in when the inevitable injury happens, or Santana continues his troubles.
yup

The Mets do not need this "me,me,me" player on their team.
His 50 plus HR's , 150+ RBI's did not get the Yankees to the World Series.
Granted he is a magnificent talent, but his team chemistry is wanting.
The Mets have just given Wright and Reyes long term contracts realizing that they are the future of this team.
Moving either Reyes or Wright from their positions for this guy is not a tactic that makes sense.
The Mets need pitching.
The powers that be on the Mets should concentrate are doing whatever they can to improve this.
His 50 HRs, 150 RBIs did get them to the playoffs. One player, no matter how good, cannot get a team to the World Series. It's not Alex Rodriguez's fault that the Yankees had bad pitching.
In addition, there were at least 700 other players who's stats did not get their team to the World Series. Why? Because:
a) Only two teams make the World Series.
b) Getting to the World Series is a team effort that requires the entire team to perform, not just one player.
David Wright and Jose Reyes didn't get the Mets even to the playoffs. Drop them?
yeah
