    Rockies Bust a Big Move

Denver-- The Rockies today traded back-up utility Outfielder Ryan Spilborghs, Mike Gallo and Ching Lung Lo to the Big city of Boston for rookie Second Baseman Dustin Pedroia. "I have been thinking this over for a while. I felt that we needed a stronger 2B and we got that in Pedroia." Ritchie stated. "When Matsui gets off the DL we will look to bolster our pitching staff with young arms." The trade only will tell which team got the better end of this deal.

Re: A Day in the Life of a 13 Year-Old GM

April 7th-10th St. Louis Cardinals (0-2) at Colorado Rockies (1-1)

    Probable Matchups:

    April 7th: Joel Pineiro (0-0, 0.00) AT Josh Fogg (0-0, 0.00)
    April 8th: Kip Wells (0-0, 0.00) AT Rodrigo Lopez (0-0, 0.00)
    April 9th: Todd Wellemeyer (0-0, 0.00) AT Ramon Ortiz (0-0, 0.00)
    April 10th: Adam Wainwright (0-1, 5.40) AT Jeff Francis (1-0, 1.13)

    April 7th:
    St. Louis: 1:4:0
    Colorado: 5:11:0

The game got interesting in the 2nd when back-to-back walks by Josh Fogg led to the Cards having the bases loaded, 1 out, and Yadier Molina up. However Fogg avoided disaster and induced a 5-4-3 inning-ending, run-saving DP. The scoring started in the 4th inning when Albert Pujols blasted his 1st HR. Making a 0-0 game turn into a 1-0 Cardinals lead. Fogg avoided more damage again when he produce the same outcome as the 2nd inning. Back-to-Back walks and then an inning-ending 6-4-3- DP (With runners on 1st and 2nd). The Rockies 1st Baseman couldn't be outdone by his counterpart so with 1 out in the 4th inning Helton blasted a fastball from Pineiro into RF (1st HR, 402 ft.) The Rockies foiled a golden opportunity with 1 out in the 5th when they had runners on 1st and 3rd (On Taveras and Tulowitzki singles), but then Holliday flied out and Helton grounded out, spoiling the threat. A hit, sac bunt and a couple of outs followed by Matt Holliday being beaned meant that the Rockies had a golden opportunity. Bases-Loaded 2 outs, bottom of the 7th and Todd "Bearded" Helton walks up to the plate and.....Mark McCormick sturck him out. The Rockies followed that rally with one in the 8th. With singles by Atkins and Hawpe coach Hurdle had Torrealba, who was 0-9, lay down a sacrifice bunt, and he laid down a beauty. So the Rockies have runners on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out and Dustin Pedroia up. McCormick walked Pedroia to bring up Pinch Hitter Seth Smith who then SINGLED UP THE MIDDLE scoring Atkins, and making it 2-1. With Fuentes warming rapidly in the pen Taveras is up with the same situation and hits a sac fly to CF scoring Hawpe. Tulo (ROTY) followed through with a 2-out 2 RBI double, scoring Pedroia and Smith. Holliday popped out to end the threat. Fuentes sealed it with a 1-2-3 9th inning.

    St. Louis MVP: Albert Pujols: 1-4, HR (1), RBI (1), R (1).
Colorado MVP: Troy Tulowitzki: 2-4, 2 RBI (3), BB (2).

    WP: Manuel Corpas (1-1)
    LP: Mark McCormick (0-1)

    April 8th:
    St. Louis: 3:6:1
    Colorado: 4:9:0

Hawpe go the Coors filed crowd Hawpeing when he hit a 407 ft 3-run HR (2nd HR) which scored Helton, who walked, and Atkins, who singled. The Cardinals shrank the lead to 3-1 on a Skip Shumaker double and scored Eckstein, who singled. A Garrett Atkins 5-4-3 DP erased a nice opportunity after Tulo reached on an Adam Kennedy error and Todd Helton legged out a 1-out Infield single. Torrealba ejected some life into the Rockies bats with a 1-out triple (that he stretched), that was his first hit 11 AB (1-11). The Cardinals then walked Pedroia (unintentionally) and made it 1st and 3rd with 1 out and Rodrigo Lopez up to bat. Who promptly smacked a 1-0 changeup into RF and ove rthe head of the drawn in Secondbaseman, scoring Torrealba. That was all the Rockies could muster in that inning however. Pujols has left the building with his 2nd HR this year (2nd this series) and a 407 ft. shot, contracting the Rockies lead to 4-2. A Scott Rolen double in the 9th inning made it a 1-run lead with 1 out and a man on 2nd. Fuentes intentionally walked Yadier Molina he got PH Aaron Miles to pop out to 2B. Then he narrowly escaped by striking out PH Gary Bennett.

St. Louis MVP: Albert Pujols: 1-4, HR (2), RBI (2), R.
    Colorado MVP: Brad Hawpe: 2-4, HR (2), 2 K, R, 3 RBI (4)

    WP: Rodrigo Lopez (1-0)
    LP: Kip Wells (0-1)
    SV: Brian Fuentes (2)

    April 9th
    St. Louis: 9:11:1
    Colorado: 7:12:0

To start the scoring Matt Holliday drove in an unearned run with a triple scoring Willy Taveras with 1 out. Atkins followed up, after Helton struck out, and hit a double which scored Holliday, making it 2-0. Hawpe the doubled down the line (he stretched it), scoring Atkins, and making it 3-0. Torrelba struck out to end the inning. However a Chris Duncan singled followed by a 2-out triple to LCF cost the Rockies a run making their lead only 3-1. A Yadier Molina single cut the lead down to 1 run. Back-to-Back doubles in the 3rd for the Cardinals tied it 3-3 and left the Cards with a runner on 2nd and 0 out. Pujols doubled after Shumaker popped out, scoring Eckstein, and making it 4-3 Cards. Back-to-Back hits 2-out hits by Helton (Double) and Atkins (Single) tied the game up at 4 apiece. Samll ball in Corrs Field does work. After Pedroia drew a 1-out walk Ramon Ortiz sacrificed him over and the Taberas drove him in with an RBI single to center. Torrealba gets a crucial 2-out base knock. After Holliday (Single) and Helton (Walk) reached with 0 outs Atkins (Line-out to Left) and Hawpe (Fly-out to Left) proceeded to not capitalize, but the Torrealba drove them in. Pedroia then grounded out ending the inning. Pujols, in the 7th, hit a 2 RBI double past the drawn in 1B Todd Helton, tying the game at 6 (Affeldt loaded the bases). Edmonds then hit a 2-run single to RCF making it a 8-6 Cards lead, with 0 outs. Manny Corpas then walked in a run making it 9-6 Cards. However he got Adam Kennedy to ground into a 6-4-3 rally-killing DP. Holliday answered right back with a solo-lead-off HR (1st, 407 ft.). The Rockies went down 1-2-3 in the 9th losing 0-7

    St. Louis MVP: Albert Pujols: 2-3, R, 2 2B (2), 3 RBI (5).
    Colorado MVP: Matt Holliday: 3-5, 3 R, HR (1), 3B (1), 2 RBI (4). Double short of cycle.

    WP: Ryan Franklin (1-0)
    LP: Jeremy Affeldt (0-1)
    SV: Jason Isringhausen (1)

    April 10th
    St. Louis: 0:2:0
    Colorado: 12:13:0

The Rockies got a good rally going after 2 walks (Helton and Hawpe) sandwiched a single by Atkins, loading the bases with 0 outs for the 7-8-9 (Torrealba-Pedroia-Francis). Torrealba forced in a run by drawing a walk. Pedroia then, also, drew a bases loaded walk. Francis took strike 3 called right down the middle. Taveras hit a sac fly to RF Skip Shumaker, scoring Brad Hawpe, making it 3-0 with 2 outs in the 2nd. Tulowitzki then popped up to end the rally. The Rockies mounted a rally in the 3rd after back-to-back singles by Holliday and Helton (Infield single). Atkins then flew out to RF for 1 out, but Holliday advanced from 2nd to 3rd on the sac fly. Hawpe hit a shallow pop-up that Holliday couldn't advance on, and then Torrealba lined out to kill the rally. 3 straight singles by Francis-Taveras-Tulowitzki scored a run (Francis) and increased the lead to 4-0. Holliday then drew a full-count walk loading the bases for the Rockies 2 best hitters (Helton and Atkins). Helton took advantage and hit the first pitch he saw down into the RF corner scoring Taveras and Tulowitzki. Atkins struck out but then Hawpe crushed a ball 402 ft into RF (3rd HR) scoring 3 runs and making it a 9-0 lead and a 6 run inning. The Rockies loaded the bases again in the 5th with back-toback 2 out singles and a Matt Holliday Hit By Pitch. Helton then took called strike 3 to end the inning. Matt Holliday gave the Rockies an insurance run in the 8th inning, when he hit his 2nd HR this year (404 ft.) making it an even 10-0. Atkins followed, after Helton walked, and hit his 2nd HR (407 ft.), scoring 2 and making it 12-0. Jeff Francis finished out the game going 1-2-3 in the 9th and sealing the 12-0, 2-hit victory.

    St. Louis MVP: NONE
    Colorado MVP: Jeff Francis: 9 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 8K, 0 R, 112 Pitches.

    WP: Jeff Francis (2-0)
    LP: Adam Wainwright (0-2)

    NL West Standings:
    t1. Colorado Rockies 4-2
    t1. San Diego Padres 4-2
    t3. Los Angeles Dodgers 3-3
    t3. San Francisco Giants 3-3
    5. Arizona Diamondbacks 2-4

    Who's Hot:
    Batter: Brad Hawpe: .364, 3 HR, 5 R, 8 RBI, .440 OBP.
    Pitcher: Jeff Francis: 2-0, 17 IP, 18 K, 2 BB, .53 ERA, .91 BAA (5 HIts), 1 CG, 1 SO.

    Who's Not:
    Batter: Yorvit Torrealba: .150, 1 R, 3 RBI, .261 OBP.
    Pitcher: Jeremy Affeldt: 1-2, 1.2 IP, 3 R (16.20 ERA), .330 BAA.

    What's Coming Up:
We have 3 at the Astros and then 3 at the Dodgers, after a day off. The Astros are 3-3 but have just won 2 straight and have really good pitching. The Dodgers are 3-3 also and have won basically every other day (We'd win 2-3 that way). Their picthing and hitting are both pretty good-average.

Re: A Day in the Life of a 13 Year-Old GM

April 11th-13th Colorado Rockies (4-2) at Houston Astros (3-3)

    Probable Matchups:

    April 11th: Aaron Cook (0-0, 5.40) AT Woody Williams (0-0, 9.00)
    April 12th: Josh Fogg (0-0, 1.29) AT Wandy Rodriguez (0-0, 0.00)
    April 13th: Rodrigo Lopez (0-0, 2.84) AT Jason Jennings (0-0, 9.00)

    April 11th:
    Colorado: 11:15:0
    Houston: 9:16:0

Houston rookie CF put them on the board first with his 1st HR of the year, 2-run (392 ft.). However the Rockies countered after Helton walked and Atkins singled. Hawpe then delivered a run-scoring double into Left Field (Scoring Helton) making it 2-1, with 0 outs. Torrealba (batting .150), hit a single scoring both Atkins and Hawpe, and making it 3-2 Rockies. However Woody Williams settled down and got Pedroia, Cook, and Taveras to end the inning. The Astros threatened right back with back-to-back singles, so they have runners on 1st and 3rd with 0 outs and the 9-1-2 hitters. Williams then laid down a suicide squeeze, which scored Biggio from 3rd, and advanced Ausmus to 2nd. After a walk to Luke Scott Cook got Mike Lamb to ground into a 4-6-3 rally-killing DP. Tulo responded right back with hit 1st HR this year (393 ft.), a solo shot, making it 4-3. Back-to-Back doubles by Pence and Carlos Lees tied the game back up at 4. Mark Lorretta loaded the bases with a single, after a Berkman walk, bringing up Craig Biggio with 0 outs. Biggio grounded out to Pedroia who threw home and got Lee trying to score. Brad Ausmus then struck out making it bases loaded, 2 outs, and Woody Williams up. Who, of course, hit a 2-run single into RF. Luke Scott grounded to short to end the inning. Hawpe got one of those runs back with a lead-off HR (4th, 389 ft.), making it a 6-5 Astros advantage. Back-to-Back singles by Torrelba and Pedroia, followed by a sac bunt by Cook, made it 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and Taveras up. Taveras struck out and Tulowitzki lined out to the Pitcher, ending the inning. With a Holliday single and a Helton double the Rockies rally was rejuvenated. A Brad Hawpe sac fly, after Atkins struck out, tied the game up at 6, with 2 out in the top of the 5th. Torrealba then traded places with Helton after he doubled into the LF corner giving the Rockies a lead by 1. Cook surrendered the lead in the 6th after a Luke Scott double and a Mike Lamb single. Ramon Ramirez came in, though, and shut the door on the inning. A couple of singles and a walk loaded the bases with 1 out for the heart of the Astros order (Pence-Lee-Berkman). Pence grounded to Pedroia to force out Brad Ausmus at home. Lee then doubled into RF giving the Astros a 9-7 lead. Berkman the grounded out but the damage was done. The Rockies tried to comeback with a Tulo single, Holliday struck out, and a Helton single. Atkins then singled to load the bases for Hawpe with 1 out against Trever Miller. Hawpe brought the lead down to 1 with a single to right, scoring Tulowitzki. Torrelba followed with the big blow.........a bases clearing double. Making it 11-9 and a 4-run 9th inning. Fuentes wasn't greeted kindly with back-to-back singles by Loretta and Biggio. Ausmus then grounded out, forcing the runner at 3rd base and brought up Brooks Conrad with 1 out, runners on 1st and 2nd, and the game on the line. HE STRUCK HIM OUT! One out away now with Scott up and.......he walked him. That loaded the bases, with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, for Mike Lamb. Who flied out to Taveras to END THE COMEBACK!

    Colorado MVP: Yorvit Torrealba: 4-5, 6 RBI (9) , 2 2B (2).
    Houston MVP: Carlos Lee: 2-4, BB, 3 RBI (7), 2 2B (5)

    WP: Manuel Corpas (2-1)
    LP: Trever Miller (0-1)
    SV: Brian Fuentes (3)

    April 12th:
    Colorado: 3:6:2
    Houston: 4:12:1

This game started out as a Pitchers' Duel. Through 4 there have been 2 hits (1 by each team), and the Rockies finally got a rally going in the 5th after Atkins reached on an Error by Brad Ausmus and Brad Hawpe singled. Torrealba followed through with an RBI-single into RF which scored Atkins and put the Rockies up 1-0, Hawpe advanced to 3rd. Pedroia then squeezed Hawpe home making it 2-0 Rockies. A couple of outs followed, thus ending the rally. The Rockies let the Astros rally in the bottom half with back-to-back singles, following a Lee ground out, and a Tulowitzki error. PH Ty Wiggington, Pinch-hitting for Brad Ausmus, struck out, leaving it up to Pitcher Wandy Rodriguez to try and drvie in the bases loaded with 2 outs. However he failed when he struck out swinging to kill the Astros threat. Holliday increased the lead leading off in the 6th with his 3rd HR (396 ft.), a solo shot, making it 3-0 Rockies. Who would've guessed...I bring in Affeldt to face a lefty (who batted .199 against lefties), with the bases loaded, and he gets a hit. He scored Berkamn (single) and made it 3-1. Julio came in and struck out Jason Lane for 1 out. Then he walked in a run though. I had to bring in a lefty to face Mike Lamb (He crushes righties), so I brought in Francis who got him to ground into a 4-6-3 DP, ending the inning, and he only threw 1 pitch. Corpas came in and gave up a double to Hunter Pence and a single to Carlos Lee to tie the game. NOT! Pence was thrown out by Brad Hawpe tryin gto score, perserving a 3-2 lead. The Astros got the rally going again, after Berkman popped out, when Mark Lorretta single. Making it 1st and 3rd with 2 outs and Brooks Conrad up, he pinch-hit for CRAIG BIGGIO! Corpas struck him out. I brought in Ramirez to face Eric Bruntlett (who hits Lefties well), and put Fuentes in CF (So he could come back in) and took Matt Holliday out. Fuentes then got Scott to pop out but then Scott Lamb singled making it 1st and 3rd, 2 outs, and the game on the line. Fuentes then went on a blew the lead allowing Hunter Pence to single and tie the game up. Fuentes then got Lee to ground out but this means we are going to extra innings and FREE BASEBALL! The only PItcher the Rockie shave left in the bullpen is Long Reliever Elmer Dessens. Who promptly loaded the bases with 1 out for Chris Burke. Then he gave up a sac fly to lose the game.

Colorado MVP: Jeff Francis: .2 IP, 1 pitch, 1 GIDP. Help stop a HUGE Houston rally.
    Houston MVP: Lance Berkman: 3-5, 2 R.

    WP: Brad Lidge (1-1)
    LP: Elmer Dessens (0-1)

    April 13th:
    Colorado: 1:5:0
    Houston: 4:7:0

The Rockies got on the board first in the 1st inning with a single and SB by Taveras, an infield single by Tulo, and a sacrifice line-out by Matt Holliday. Lance Berkman tied it up in the 4th with a solo HR (1, 353 ft.). Brooks Conrad gave the Astros a 1-run lead with a solos HR (1, 388 ft.). Hunter Pence iced the game for the Astros with a 2-run HR (2, 388 ft.), increasing the lead to 4-1.

Colorado MVP: Matt Holliday: 2-3, RBI (7)
    Houston MVP: Hunter Pence: 1-4, R, HR (2), 2 RBI (6)

    WP: Jason Jennings (1-0)
    LP: Rodrigo Lopez (1-1)
    SV: Brad Lidge (2)

    NL West Standings:
    t1. Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3
    t1. San Francisco Giants 6-4
    3. Colorado Rockies 5-4
    4. San Diego Padres 4-4
    5. Arizona Diamondbacks 3-5

    What's Coming Up:
Well I have 3 againast the 1st place Dodgers. This series will be huge, especially if I can take 2/3 or sweep them. This will decide the feeling for the rest of the month. They have some good pitching, but their hitting hasn't been the best, and, unfortunately, this series will come down to pitching.

Re: A Day in the Life of a 13 Year-Old GM

Ritchie tries to seal up Pitching; Acquires help

Denver-- Ritchie made 2 seperate moves to try and help bolster both the rotation and the bullpen. First, he traded Kaz Matsui and Helder Velazquez to division-rival San Diego for RHP Cla Meredith. Matsui has been hurt and hasn't played all year and Velazquez is a decent Rookie ball propect. Meredith has a 3.00 ERA in 3 IP with a .200 BAA and 3:2 K:BB ratio. He will be put into the bullpen immediately for Jorge Julio.

The other move he made was trading RP LaTroy Hawkins and RP Taylor Buchholz to Florida for RHP SP Anibal Sanchez. Hawkins has a 18 ERA in 1 IP and has a .400 BAA. Buchholz has 0-1 record in AAA with a 2.20 ERA in 5 G. Sanchez is 1-0 in 2 GS, with a 3.60 ERA, .158 BAA, and a 2:1 K:BB ratio. Sanchez won't be put into the rotation immediately. He will first be in AAA for 2 days while he rests then he will be used in the bullpen until we get a clearer picture of which SP will be removed from the rotation (Ortiz or Lopez).

Re: A Day in the Life of a 13 Year-Old GM

April 15th-17th Colorado Rockies (5-4) at Los Angeles Dodgers (5-3)

    April 15th:
    Colorado: 0:7:1
    Los Angeles: 2:7:0

The Rockies sacrificed the first run of the game in order to trun a 4-6-1 DP. The Dodgers led off the 4th with back-to-back singles by Furcal and Martin then Kent grounded into a 4-6-1, run-scoring, DP. Ethier followed with a single and Gonzalez followed with a run scoring double making it 2-0. Thats how the game ended.

    Colorado MVP: Garrett Atkins: 1-4, 2B (4)

    SV: Takashi Saito (2)

    April 16th:
    Colorado: 8:13:0
    Los Angeles: 4:10:1

A Willy Taveras triple and a Todd Helton sac fly to CF made it an early 1-0 Rockies lead. However 3 straight Dodger singles tied the game at 1. Then Luis Gonzalez kept it going with yet another single putting the Rockies in an early 2-1 hole. Another sac fly, this time by Tulo, tie dthe game up at 2. A walk, steal and bloop single let the Dodgers take a 3-2 lead. Torrealba then tied it up with a BOMB SHOT! He hit a solo HR (1, 430 ft.) to dead center and tied it 3-3. Holliday gave the Rockies a 5-3 lead with a 2-run HR (4, 404 ft.) to LCF, scoring Helton (who singled), and giving the Rockies a good edge in the 6th. The Rockies continued threating when Hawpe singled and Atkins walkd, making it 1st ahnd 2nd and 0 outs. Pedroia singled, after Torrealba lined to second, loading the bases for Troy Tulowitzki. Who promptly struck out followed by Cook who SINGLED INTO RF! That single scored AHawpe and Atkins and gave the Rockies a comfortable 7-3 lead, with a 4-run 6th. Taveras kept it going with an identical hit, which scored Pedroia, and made it 8-3! Helton then popped out to LF. A 2-out single followed by 2 walks loaded the bases, with 2 outs, for Todd Helton. Helton, like last time, popped out just to RF instead of LF. Ramon Ramirez made it interesting when he gave up a lead-off HR to Jeff Kent (2, 429 ft.) and made it a 8-4 lead. A Holliday double and Atkins reaching on a throwing error by Rafeal Furcal made it 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Torrealba grounded into a double play to end the inning. The bullpen finished it out as it was.

    Colorado: 3:7:0
    Los Angeles: 4:10:0

After a single and a couple of walks Garrett Atkins came up with the bases loaded an 1 out in the 1st inning, and a chance to do big damage early. Atkins ripped a curve into the Left Field corner scoring both Taveras and Holliday, and giving the Rocks a 2-0 lead. Torrelba increased the lead with a sac fly that scored Brad Hawpe, making it an early 3-0 lead. Fogg didn't start out to hot but got help from his defense. He gave up a lead-off triple into the Left Field corner, BUT got greedy and was thrown out by Matt Holliday at home, 1 out. Russell Martin tripled with 2 outs but Fogg got Jeff Kent to pop out to Tulo. The Dodgers got on the board when, after a Garciaparra single and Penny sac bunt, Rafeal Furcal (with 2 outs) hit a RBI single into LF. Josh Fogg was thrown out at home to end the 4th inning by Luis Gonzalez, after a Taveras double, saving a run and perserving the 3-1 deficit. That proved improtant as Andre Ethier led off the bottom of the 4th with a solo HR (1, 396 ft.) to LCF, making it 3-2. Then Luis Gonzalez tied it with a solo shot to RF (2, 404 ft.) proving the run at home was huge, since the game is tied at 3. The Rockies go into the Dodgers pen early knocking Penny out after only 5 IP. No one scored until the 8th when Russell Martin hit a solo HR (1, 403 ft.) making it 4-3 and blowing the tie game. Saito got 2 outs in the 9th before Tulo singled, but he got PH Cory Sullivan to ground out and end it.

    Colorado MVP: Garrett Atkins: 2-4, 2B (5), 2 RBI (8).
    Los Angeles MVP: Russell Martin: 2-4, R, HR (1), 3B (1), RBI (1).

    WP: Mark Hendrickson (1-0)
    LP: Cla Meredith (0-1)
    SV: Takashi Saito (3)

    NL West Standings:
    1. Los Angeles Dodgers 7-4
    t2. San Francisco Giants 6-6
    t2. Colorado Rockies 6-6
    t4. San Diego Padres 5-6
    t4. Arizona Diamondbacks 5-6

    What's Coming Up:
I get 2 with the Padres at home . The Padres have there 3-4 SP going and I get my 4-5 going against them. If the pitching holds and we hit the ball we should win this series.

The Rockies threatened again in the 7th when a PH single by Cory Sullivan and a bunt hit by Willy Taveras followed by a sac fky by Todd Helton, Sullivan moved to 3rd. Tulo helped expand the lead with a 2-run triple, scoring Pedroia and Torrealba, laing it an 8-2 Rockies lead. Fuentes mad it a little crippling when he allowed a couple of hits and made it 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. An infield single by Kevin Koumanoff scored a run and decreased the lead to 5. A Russell Branyan single made it 8-4 Rockies. However Cameron lined out to Taveras to end the game, and saving me of a heart attack

Re: A Day in the Life of a 13 Year-Old GM

April 20th-21st Los Angeles Dodgers (8-5) at Colorado Rockies (7-7)

    Probable Matchups:

    April 20th: Chad Billingsley (1-0, 1.32) AT Jeff Francis (2-1, 1.14)
    April 21st: Randy Wolf (0-0, 4.50) AT Aaron Cook (1-0, 6.75)

    April 20th:
    Los Angeles: 2:8:0
    Colorado: 5:12:0
    ROCKIES WIN: 5-2

The Rockeis got on the board first when Willy Taveras knocked in Dustin Pedroia, who doubled, with 2 outs and making it a 1-0 lead. Hawpe extended the lead in the 3rd with a 3-run HR (6, 401). He scored Helton, who singled, and Holliday, who walked. Tulowitzki added a solo HR (2, 442) to dead center (What makes it even worse is that Taveras was just thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double on Luis Gonzalez). Luis Gonzalez got the Dodgers on the board with a triple, that scored Ethier (Single), but then he stretched the triple into a Inside The Park HR (3). Fuentes came in and closed the door, preserving a 5-2 win.

    Los Angeles MVP: Luis Gonzalez: 1-4, HR (3), 2 RBI (10), R.
    Colorado MVP: Brad Hawpe: 1-4, HR (6), 3 RBI (17), R.

    SV: Brian Fuentes (4)

    April 21st:
    Los Angeles: 6:14:0
    Colorado: 2:7:0

A Martin singled followed by a Stolen Base and a sac ground out made it 2 outs and Martin on 3rd. Garciaparra then singled back up the middle, scoring Martin, and making it a 1-zip Dodgers lead. The Rockies tried to respond with back-to-back walks but then a ground out and a Double Play ended the rally. The Dodgers were bit by the DP bug when James Loney grounded into a 5-4-3 DP, with runners at 1st and 3rd, and it ended the Dodgers rally. The
Dodgers finally scored some runs when a Rafeal Furcal doubled which scored Wolf and Pierre, who both singled, making it 3-0. Aaron Cook got a little revenge when he singled scoring Pedroia, who singled, and decreasing the Dodgers 3-0 lead to 3-1. Holliday made it 3-2 with a solo, lead-off HR (6, 408 ft.) in the bottom of the 6th. Russell Martin hit into a 1-4-2 DP but it
allowed Jeff Kent, who doubled, to score and make it 4-2. An Olmedo Saenz single, scored 2, and made it 6-2 and gave our bullpen more trouble.

    Los Angeles MVP: Rafeal Furcal: 2-5, 2B (2), 2 RBI (3).
Colorado MVP: Matt Holliday: 1-3, BB, R, HR (6), RBI (13)

Re: A Day in the Life of a 13 Year-Old GM

April 22nd-24th Colorado Rockies (8-8) at San Francisco Giants (9-7)

    Probable Matchups:

April 22nd: Josh 'Dragon Slayer' Fogg (0-0, 2.84) AT Barry Zito (0-2, 4.86)
    April 23rd: Rodrigo Lopez (1-1, 2.21) AT Noah Lowry (1-0, 4.82)
April 24th: Ramon Ortiz (1-0, 3.95) AT Tim Lincecum (1-0, 2.29) Scratched because of a Stree Fracture in his Foot. Joesph Martinez (1-0, 3.68) will take his place

    April 22nd:
    Colorado: 0:5:0
    San Francisco: 1:8:0

A squeeze play by Barry Zito, with 1 out in the 2nd, scored Durham, who singled, and made it 1-0 Giants. We wasted a key opportunity in the 8th when Pedroia led off with a double, but Zito then set the next 3 down ending the Rockies hopes in that inning. The rest of the game was Fogg (and Corpas for 1 inning) and Zito matching zeros. The game ended with a whimper of a 1-0 loss.

    Colorado MVP: Dustin Pedroia: 2-3, 2B (3).
    San Francisco MVP: Barry Zito: 8.2 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 0 R (0 ER), 3 K.

    WP: Barry Zito (1-2)
    LP: Josh Fogg (0-1)
    SV: Vinnie Chulk (4)

    April 23rd:
    Colorado: 6:7:1
    San Francisco: 2:8:1

Randy Winn got the Giants off to a good start when he hit and RBI double to RF that scored Dave Roberts (Who singled), and gave Noah Lowry a 1-0 lead. Garrett Atkins tied the game at 1 with a single up the middle, which scored Holliday (who doubled). Dustin Pedroia followed through with a RBI double, shich scored Atkins, and made it 2-1 Rockies. Randy Winn started the 4th with a double, and it looked like the Giants would score but Bonds struck out and, after a walk to Bengie Molina, Lopez got Pedro Feliz to fly out to Holliday for out number 2. Rich Aurilla then walked, loading the bases for Ray Durham who......STRUCK OUT to end the inning. Since then there has only been zeros and Ritchie is starting to worry that he'll have to use his bullpen, in a save situation, soon if the scoring doesn't increase. The Rockies are mounting a rally with 2 on, 1st and 2nd, and 1 out, and the top of the lineup up (Taveras-Tulowitzki-Helton). However they didn't get past Taveras as he grounded into a 5-4-3 DP to kill the rally. The Giants tied it when Bengie Molins singled into left scoring Randy Winn (Who singled),a s the bullpen blew another lead (The run was given to Corpas, but Fuentes allowed the RBI-hit). Fuentes then settled down and got the next 2 guys, but the damage was done and the game tied. Tulowitzki got them off the hook in the 9th inning with a solo HR (3, 402 ft.), and made it a 3-2 Rockies advantage. A Helton walk and a Holliday double made it 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs and Hawpe coming up against Tyler Walker. Hawpe grounded out to short, and for some reason Holliday got tagged out going from 2nd to 3rd, but scored Helton making it 4-2. Pedroia iced the cake when, after Atkins lined to center, hit a 2-run HR (1, 390 ft.) off of Tyler Walker and made it 6-2 Rockies. Fuentes and Meredith closed the game,. but not after making it interesting. An error by Tulo put runners at 1st and 3rd with 2 outs and Randy Winn up. Winn then popped up to Tulowitzki who squeezed it for the final out.

    Colorado MVP: Dustin Pedroia: 3-4, R, 2B (5), HR (1), 3 RBI (5).
    San Francisco MVP: Randy Winn: 3-5, R, 2 2B (8), RBI (9).

    WP: Brian Fuentes (1-0)
    LP: Tyler Walker (0-2)

    April 24th:
    Colorado: 1:8:0
    San Francisco: 3:10:0

If the Rockies win this game they are tied with the Giants for second in the West, but if the Dodgers also lose to the D-Backs then the Rockies will be tied with San Fran and LA for 1st in the West. INJURY PITCHING CHANGE: The Giants scheduled starter Tim Lincecum has a stress fracture in his foot that he suffered throwing bullpen yesterday, which makes him a sratch from today's start and Joesph Martinez (1-0, 3.68). Martinez has 5 different pitches, but all in all could use some more seasoning in the minors. Willy Taveras started the game with a bang, and rattled Martinez's cage, when he hit ripped a single into Left Field and then challenged Barry Bonds' weak arm and turned a single into a double when he was called safe at second. Holliday finally drove him in with 2 outs when he singled up the middle: 1-0 Rockies. Holliday started the 4th off the same way Taveras starte dthe game off, by challenging Barry Bonds' arm by stretching a single into a double. However Martinez got 3 straight outs and the Rockies couldn't cash in. The Giants cashe in on a Rich Aurilla single in the 8th when Ray Durham knocked him in with a double tying it at 1. Raja Davis then scored Durham with an RBI single into LF. Affeldt got Dave Roberts to pop out to end the inning. We got a rally started when Taveras singled and Tulo doubled to RF putting runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and Helton up, I would've sent him home probably but they didn't give me the option. After Helton popped up to the Catcher Holliday walked loading the bases with 2 outs for Brad Hawpe who........grounded out to first. The Giants threatened against Meredith with runners at 1st and 3rd with 2 outs and Pedro Feliz up. Meredith allowed ANOTHER HIT and made it 3-1 Giants, but then he got Aurilla to ground out. The Rockies went down 1-2-3 to end the game.

    Colorado MVP: Matt Holliday: 2-3, 2B (7), RBI (14)
    San Francisco MVP:

    WP: Joseph Martinez (2-0)
    LP: Ramon Ortiz (1-1)
    SV: Brad Hennessey (1)

    NL West Standings:
    1. San Francisco Giants 11-8
    2. Los Angeles Dodgers 9-6
    3. Colorado Rockies 9-10
    4. San Diego Padres 7-8
    5. Arizona Diamondbacks 5-10

    What's Coming Up:
I get 3 at the Padres and hopefully can gain some ground in the division.

    Major Transactions:
    NONE

    Important Injuries:
Bobby Crosby will miss 3 months due to a broken ankle that happened when he fell out of his bed last night.

Re: A Day in the Life of a 13 Year-Old GM

    April 25th-27th
Colorado Rockies (9-10) at San Diego Padres (8-10)

    Probable Matchups:

    April 25th: Jeff Francis (3-1, 1.47) AT Jake Peavy (1-1, 1.26)
    April 26th: Aaron Cook (1-1, 5.92) AT Justin Germano (1-1, 2.40)
    April 27th: Josh 'Dragon Slayer' Fogg (0-1, 2.42) AT Greg Maddux(2-2, 4.58)

    April 25th:
    Colorado: 4:11:1
    San Diego: 6:12:0

The Padres scored first when Adrian Gonzalez drove in Kazuo Matsui, who singled, with a single to LF. The Rockies got on the board, along with their first hit, with 2 outs in the 3rd when Taveras and Helton singled, a Tulowitzki walked was sandwhiched in between. Helton's single scored Taveras and tied the game at 1. A Holliday single scored Tulowitzki, and advanced Helton to 3rd, making it 2-1 Rox. Hawpe struck out looking to end the rally. Milton Bradley went right back and tied the game with a single to center, scoring Cameron who singled. This made the game 2-2. A Brian Giles Hit-By-Pitch worsened the rally making it 1st and 2nd with 1 out. An Ensberg singled made it bases loaded with 1 out and Yadier Molina up to bat. Yadier Molina singled to center scoring Milton Bradley, and making it 3-2 Padres. Geoff Blum copied Bradley, scored Brian Giles, and made it 4-2. Francis got out of the jam when Jake Peavy hit into a 4-6-3, rally-killing, DP. Small Ball got the Rockies back to even with the Padres. After a Jeff Francis single Willy Taveras bunted for a base hit to 1st. Tulowitzki followed with a sacrifice bunt which turned out good when Todd Helton drove them both in with a single, tying the game at 4. That pushed Jake Peavy out of the game after only 4.1 IP. A bloop single by Morgan Ensberg off of Jeremy Affeldt made it 5-4 Padres, and left it 1st and 2nd with 1 out in the 7th. Molina increased the lead when he single doff of Cla Meredith making it 5-2, and our bullpen troubles continue . Back-to-back ground out ended the inning but the damage was already done. Hall of famer Tervor Hoffman came in and put us down 1-2-3 and gave us another heart-wrenching loss.

Colorado MVP: Todd Helton: 3-4, 3 RBI (9).
San Diego MVP: Yadier Molina: 3-4, 2 RBI (4).

    WP: Brett Tomko (1-2)
    LP: Jeff Francis (3-2)
    SV: Trevor Hoffman (5)

    April 26th:
    Colorado: 5:13:0
    San Diego: 6:12:0

The Rockies got off to a rocky start (excuse the pun) when Jim Edmonds hit a solo HR to LCF (2, 309 ft.) putting the Padres up 1-0. Bradley then put them up 3-0 with a 2-run HR to LF (3, 402 ft.). Brian Gile followed with a solo HR (3, 435 ft.), and with that I bring in Annibal Sanchez (Cook went .1 IP). Sanchez settled down and limited them to only 4 runs in the first. Annibal Sanchez wants to help start a comeback when he hit a RBI single into LF, with 2 outs, scoring Tulowitzki (Who hit an infield single), and made it 4-1. Taveras followed through with a RBI single to RF, scoring Iannetta (Who walked, and started for Torrealba), decreasing the lead to 4-2. Pedroia struck out looking to end the inning. The Rockies shortened the lead to 1 in the 4th when Taveras, following singles by Iannetta and Sanchez, hit into a RBI fielder's chioice, Sanchez was out at 2nd, but Iannetta scored making it 4-3 Padres. A single, walk, and a single loaded the bases in the 5th for Milton Bradley who hit the 2-run HR earlier. Bradley siingled into left scoring 2 and making it 6-3, but Adrian Gonzalez tried to go to 3rd on the hit from first but was thrown out by Holliday. The Rockies are trying to mount a comeback when Atkins singled, Iannetta doubled, and PH Cory Sullivan drove in Atkins with a single up the middle, making it 6-4 Padres. There are runners at 1st and 3rd for the top of the order (Taveras-Pedroia-Helton). Taveras hit into a FC, Taveras out at first, but Iannetta scored making it 6-5 Padres. Pedroia walked making it 1st and 2nd with 2 outs for Todd 'Mountainman' Helton. Helton then struck out swinging on an 88 MPH fastball on the outside corner. Hoffman came in with 1 out against Hawpe and walked him, but he got Atkins to line out, so Tulo is up with a man on 1st and 2 outs in the top of the 9th vs. Hoffman. A bloop single by Tulo put the tying runner at 3rd with 2 out and Chris Iannetta up to the plate. Iannetta popped to center to end the game.

    Colorado MVP: Annibal Sanchez: 3-3, RBI (1), 5.2 IP, 6 H, 2 BB, 2 ER, 3 K.
    San Diego MVP: Milton Bradley: 3-4, R, HR (3), 4 RBI (10)

    WP: Justin Germano (2-1)
    LP: Aaron Cook (1-2)
    SV: Trevor Hoffman (6)

    April 27th:
    Colorado: 5:10:0
    San Diego: 14:17:1

Milton Bradley struck again. He hit a 3-run HR (4, 268 ft.) in the top of the first and put the Padres up 3-0. Torrealba got the Rockies on the board when he hit a sac fly to RF which scored Atkins, who singled, and made it 3-1 Padres. However our pitchers apperently didn't get the memos that PetCo Park is a PITCHER'S PARK as Fogg allowed another 3-run HR this time to Jim Edmonds (3, 390 ft.), and this put the Padres up 6-1 in the 2nd. Atkins tried to lower the deficit in the 4th when he hit a 2-run HR (3, 403 ft.) and made it 6-3. The Rockies mounted a comeback in the 6th when Torrelba knocked in 2 runs with a double, scoring Atkins (who singled) and Barmes (who walked, and is playing b/c Tulo is hurt for 3 days), and he made it 6-5. However no one could knock Torrelba in from second. My bullpen blew the 1 run deficit and a chance to come back when they allowed 2 runs in the 6th on a Kazuo Matsui single into LF. Then McClellan allowed another run when he walked Milton Bradley with the bases loaded and made it 9-5. Another run scored when Brian Giles grounded to my Pitcher with the bases loaded and 0 outs and McClellan threw to first, instead of home, and got Giles out but the run scored: 10-5. Then, after Ensberg struck out, Molina singled to center making it 11-5 Padres, and putting the game out of reach. Milton Bradley made it 12-5 in the 7th when he singled, scoring Kevin Cameron (Walked). A double by Kaz Matsui in the 8th with the bases loaded drove in 2 and made it 14-5.

    Colorado MVP: Garrett Atkins: 3-4, 3 R, HR (3), 2 RBI (11).
    San Diego MVP: Milton Bradley: 2-3, 2 BB, R, HR (4), 5 RBI (15).

    WP: Greg Maddux (3-2)
    LP: Josh Fogg (0-2)

    NL West Standings:
    1. San Francisco Giants 12-10
    2. Los Angeles Dodgers 11-10
    3. San Diego Padres 11-10
    4. Arizona Diamondbacks 9-11
    5. Colorado Rockies 9-13

    What's Coming Up:
I get to see if I can end the losing skid with 3 at home against the division leading Giants. Hopefully my offense can hit the ball and my bullpen doesn't implode.

    Major Transactions:
April 26th, 2007: Colorado trades P Cla Meredith, P Jeremy Affeldt, P Kevin Walker, P Mike Redman to Cleveland for P Rafael Bentancourt (See next post)

    Important Injuries:

    Rockies Solidify Bullpen

    Trade for Betancourt
    April 26th, 2007

Denver-- The Rockies and Indians worked long into the night to figure out the latest deal trading Rafael Betancourt to Colorado for Jeremy Affeldt, Cla Meredith, Kevin Walker, and Mike Redman (They are all P).

Betancourt had a 1.74 ERA through 11 games with the Indians so far this season. With 2 saves and a .174 BAA Betancourt seemed to be a good piece to fit into the closer's role. Betancourt will take the closer spot, Fuentes will move to SU, and Corpas to SR. Rounding out the bullpen is Lefty Tom Martin (SR) , Zach McClellan (MR) and SP Annibal Sanchez (LR). Afeldt and Meredith were the key pieces that the Rockeis were giving up. "It's hard to give up promising players like Affedlt and Meredith. but we needed bullpen help and I felt that they were not performing up to standards so they were traded." said GM Travis Ritchie regarding trading away Meredith and Affeldt.

Hopefully this can solifiy the Rockies' shaky bullpen, but only time will tell.

    Rockies Make Another Move

    Reunited with Kazuo Matsui
    May 1st, 2007

Denver-- Rookie GM Travis Ritchie looks like he is trying to make up for a mistake he made earlier. Last night he traded P Alan Johnson and P Andrew Johnston to San Diego for 2B Kazuo Matsui. Matsui was traded earlier from Colorado to San Diego for RP Cla Meredith who was recently traded to Cleveland. "Trading Matsui was a mistake. It was spur of the moment, but I am glad to have him back in Colorado. " said Ritchie.

Matsui will take over the 2B job from struggling Dustin Pedroia and will add some speed to the top of our lineup.

Re: A Day in the Life of a 13 Year-Old GM

    April 29th-May 1st
San Francisco Giants (12-10) at Colorado Rockies (9-13)

    Probable Matchups:

    April 29th: Noah Lowry (1-0, 4.21) AT Rodrigo Lopez (1-1, 1.98)
    April 30th: Joesph Martinez (2-0, 2.51) AT Jeff Francis (3-2, 2.70)
    May 1st: Matt Cain (2-2, 3.60) AT Annibal Sanchez (1-0, 4.41)

    April 29th:
    San Francisco: 7:11:1
    Colorado: 6:13:1

The Rockies again gave up first inning runs when Barry Bonds hit a 3-run HR (4, 404 ft.) which scored 3 and made it 3-0 Giants in the first. Infield singles by Pedroia and Holliday gave Hawpe the chance to make it 3-2, and he delivered. Hawpe hit a 2-run double into the RF gap, scoring both, and making it 3-2. Bonds hurt us again in the 3rd when he singled home Randy Winn, who doubled, with 2 outs and made it 4-2. Matt Holliday was able to tie it up at 4 in the bottom half of the inning when he hit a 2-run HR (7, 442 ft.) into deep CF, and he scored Pedroia who had singled to start the inning. In the 4th inning Willy Taveras, with 1 out, was able to squeeze across Barmes, who singled, and made it 5-4 Rockies. The Giants threatened in the 6th when they loaded the bases with 2 outs thanks to 2 singles and a Rodrigo Lopez fielding error, and Dave Roberts is up to bat. Roberts promptly singled into RF, scoring 2, and making a 5-4 Rockies lead into a 6-5 Rockies deficit. Vizquel went oppo into LF, and scored Lance Niekro extending the lead to 7-5. Lopez stopped the damage there when he got Randy Winn to pop out to end the inning. Taveras made it 7-6 when he doubled into left and scored PH Chris Iannetta, who doubled. However Correia got Pedroia and Helton to end the inning. Bentancourt set the Giants down in the 9th preserviong the 7-6 deficit and giving the Rockies 1 last chance to come back. Except our heart of our order couldn't come through. Following a Pedroia single, Helton proceeded to strike out and Holliday grounded into a game-ending 4-6-3 DP.

    San Francisco MVP: Barry Bonds: 2-5, R, HR (4), 4 RBI (10)
    Colorado MVP: Matt Holliday: 4-5, 2 R, HR (7), 2 RBI (17).

    WP: Randy Messenger (1-0)
    LP: Rodrigo Lopez (1-2)
    SV: Vinnie Chulk (6)

    April 30th:
    San Francisco: 12:16:2
    Colorado: 9:13:1

Back-to-Back singles by Vizquel and Winn made it 1st and 3rd with 1 out in the first and Barry Lamar Bonds up. Bonds didn't do a lot of damage but he did hit a sac fly that scored Vizquel and made it 1-0. A 2-out single and 2 walks led to the bases being loaded for Garrett Atkins and 2 down. Atkins unfortunately struck out. The Giants retaliated in the 2nd when THEY loaded the bases, but this time only 1 out. Dave Roberts popped out to catcher: 2 outs. Then Vizquel, luckily, grounded out to short for out #3. Back-to-Back singles by Winn and Bonds to open the second showed some unpromising events happening. Molina then hit a blooper into shallow LCF, scoring Winn and advancing Bonds to 3rd, all the while making the score 2-0. After a walk to Feliz Aurilla grounded out, scoring Bonds, and making it 3-0. Then following a walk to Ray Durham Joseph Martinez grounded into a 5-2-3 DP to end the inning. In the bottom half of the inning Taveras singled then stole second. Pedroia popped up for an easy out but Joesph Martinez (P) just committed an error on a pop up to make it runners on the corners and 0 outs. There is good news and bad news about what just happened: The good news is the fact that Taveras ended up scoring, but the Bad News is Helton grounded into a double play (6-4-3) to score Taveras. Garrett Atkins tied the game up in the 4th with a 2-run shot to LCF (4, 404 ft.) and hopefully it'll jump start my offense. Torrealba singled with 1 out and, after Francis struck out, Taveras reached second on a fielding error by Dave Roberts making it 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs. Pedroia then singled to CF and made it 5-3. However Bengie Molina tied it back up at 5 when he hit a 2-run HR (2, 404 ft.). One out later Ray Durham followed Molina's example when HE hit a 2-run HR (2, 442 ft.) and made it 7-5. Matt Holliday is trying to get the Rockies back in the game when he led off the 5th with a solo HR to LF (8, 404 ft.) and made it 7-6. Helton put the Rockies up in the 6th when he hit a 2 out 2-run HR (3, 407 ft.). This was following a 2 out single by Dustin Pedroia into RF. A single by Randy Winn tied thegame at 8 when he drove in Dave Roberts who singled and stole second. The Giants loaded the bases in the 9th, with 0 out, by an error by Aaron Cook, a bunt base hit by Rich Aurillia, and an infield single by Ray Durham. A line-out/sac fly by Lance Niekro gave the Giants the lead back at 9-8. A ground out to second by Dave Roberts put men at the corners, 2 outs, and Omar Vizquel up. Vizquel, of course, singled into RF scoring Durham and making it 10-8. Randy Winn then walked loading the bases for.... BARRY BONDS! Bonds single dinto LF scoring 2, but Randy Winn tried to go from 1st to 3rd and was thrown out by Matt Holliday to end the inning and give the Giants a 12-8 lead. Matt Holliday apperently really wants to win this game as he hit a 1 out solo HR (9, 402 ft.) to RF and made it 12-9. With 2 outs Clint Barmes came up with Hawpe on first and HIT AN INFIELD SINGLE. Torrealba then watched strke 3 to end the game.

    San Francisco MVP: Barry Bonds: 4-5, 2 R, 3 RBI (13)
    Colorado MVP: Matt Holliday: 2-4, BB, 2 R, 2 HR (8,9), 2 RBI (19).

    WP: Russ Ortiz (1-0)
    LP: Aaron Cook (1-3)
    SV: Vinnie Chulk (7)

    May 1st:
    San Francisco:
    Colorado:

Ray Durham doubled in the 3rd following a Rich Aurilla single, scoring Surillia, but Durham was thrown out trying to go to 3rd base by Brad Hawpe: 1-0. Bonds stretched the Giants lead to 2 in the 4th when he hit a solo HR to RCF (6, 397ft.). A double by Dave Roberts scored Ray Durham and then, after Dave Roberts stole 3rd, Omar Vizquel hit a sac fly to RF and scored Roberts making it 4-0. Bonds then hurt us with the long ball again, this time a 2-run HR (7, 402 ft.) and made it 6-0. Todd Helton made it 6-1 when he knocked Willy Taveras in with a sac fly to Bonds. A Todd Helton single with 1 out and the bases loaded made it 6-2 Giants. MATT HOLLIDAY then tied the game with a GRAND SLAM (10, 403 ft.). A Lance Niekro single with 2 outs in the 9th made it 7-6 Giants. Todd Helton pulled Fuentes out of a hole when he singled home Willy Taveras (who doubled) and tied the game at 7. Kevin Frandsen plated 2 with a bases loaded, 2 outs RBI single to RF of Zach McClellan. Garrett Atkins got his first hit of the game and it was HUGE. He led off the bottom of the 10th with a solo HR (5, 404 ft.) and made it 9-8 Giants. Tulowitzki then struck out and Torrelba singled. After a Cory Sullivan pop out brought Willy Taveras up with 2 outs and a runner on 1st. Taveras popped to Center and gave our bullpen another loss.

    San Francisco MVP: Barry Bonds: 4-5, 3 R, 2 HR (6,7), 3 RBI (16)
    Colorado MVP: Matt Hollidya: 1-5, R, HR (10), 4 RBI (23)

    WP: Vinnie Chulk (1-0)
    LP: Rafael Betancourt (1-1)
    SV: Kevin Correia (1)

    t2. San Diego Padres 13-12
    4. Los Angeles Dodgers 12-13
