    frequent player injuries after success

I've noticed something rather peculiar recently in my game. Two of my pitchers got injured immediately following games in which they threw shutouts (one of them was injured for over a month). My closer got injured after pitching 6 consecutive strikeouts to end the game. Two of my hitters got long-term injuries immediately after making the papers for their hitting production (I believe both were 5 for 5 in their respective games).

Is this coincidence? Or does the game have some kind of built-in balancing mechanism to punish players that are too good?

Also, they get hurt easier when they're tired. Watch for that, otherwise, like HGM said, it's just a coincidence.

Yep, what would be worth looking at is how many pitches they threw in those games compared to what they usually do, and what their Endurance ratings are. When a pitcher is throwing a shutout you want to leave him to try to complete it, but if you go too far you are increasing the injury risk.

For position players, it's also something to consider. For example, early in the season I just completed my power-hitting first baseman was hot. This guy had a 72 health rating or so, so generally I rested him a lot. But he was on a hitting streak and hammering home runs so I threw platooning out the window and rode him -- right into a season-ending injury.

It's not completely coincidence, though. More pitches = more opportunities to become injured. If injuries were able to occur during a game, I'm sure that most of the time these injuries would. It's not really "punishment" though, simply chance catching up to the player.

It has nothing to do with the pitcher doing well though. In that regards, it is coincidence.

Yes, I know, good pitching usually leads to the pitcher being kept in longer, but the good pitching is not the cause of the injury.

Yea, it was supposed to be in this year. We'll see if it makes the cut for Mogul 2009.
