Hey Ohms, creating a new Mozilla profile seems to have done it. I was just able to log in with my original name. Thank you for all of your help.

No problem. FF has been kind of messed up with these last few updates. Kind of pisses me off.

I have officially switched back to IE, that is IE7, IE6 wasn't cutting it for BMO. While IE7 I have no problems with.
Anyone else having trouble with having to log in again every time you visit the board? I can get in ok, it's just a pain to have to do that every time and it wasn't like that before. I just started having issues with it in the past couple of days. Happening both on my work PC and at home. Using Firefox 2.0.7.
Edit: I check "Remember Me" whenever I log in but then when I come back later it is unchecked again. WTF? I haven't changed any cookie settings recently either.
Yea, it's the updates for Firefox that are causing problems. You need to remake your profile according to the procedure in the link which I posted above. Unfortunately, doing so nukes your history, settings, and your cookies; forewarned is forearmed. I'm just dealing with having to login every time.

what ohms has listed above should fix the problem![]()
I was having some really long transitions using Opera over the last two days. I'd click on a forum and then swap over to explorer and read the news while the pages loaded. Fixed now, though I did nothing.
My login is working fine again now, not because of anything I did, it just started working on its own again for some reason. No idea what that was all about.
Mozilla Firefox problems agains using version 2.00.11 can't log in or have name displayed. firefox won't save password or login with regular password. I have changed it twice by emailing and it still doesn't work. for know I would tell anyone using firefox to use IE & to use sports mogul board.
hmm...Fire Fox Beta 3 is out now, any luck?
IE7 has reported no problems lately, there were problems with IE6.
Okay I used IE 7.0.5730.11 and it did the same thing. my name appears in the lower box where it shows users online but doesn't show me logged in and can't post veiw as logged in. I reset my password and it is working for the moment.
perhaps it is my firewall that is blocking it. check my internet options and they seem to be fine. we'll try this again.
Are you allowing cookies to be set? Or, deleting cookies every time that you close your browser?
(Note: some security software will do that sort of thing automatically)
What your describing sounds like a cookie issue. Forum software (such as vBulletin, which is what this forum uses) needs to set a cookie which won't be deleted between sessions in order for the login system to work correctly.

just set it to not delete cookies temp file anything .. when I shut down IE and restart it won't let me in. And there is no place to find saved password on this version of IE and I rest that too so possible it will. we'll try this again.
EDIT:12-10 I just deleted the cookies on IE and browsing history and such and it reset. now Ican log in.. Thanks Ohms.

Suddenly had the same problem w/ IE, although I can't be sure that it's not because of changes that IT did to my laptop. (Tried accepting all cookies, not deleting temp files when logging off, etc.) In any case, I have a friend who is a big Opera booster, so I gave it a shot. No dice. Tried Koeske's trick (login: "troubletwins"), which worked! Once. Then never again.
I was about to give up, but iTunes asked me to update. I don't like the way it always pushes QuickTime, but I decided to give Safari a shot. And lo and behold, it works. Not only that, but it's got a built-in spellchecker (might be Google's).
It's good to be back.
