    Can He Beat Pete Rose?

    Can They Beat Pete Rose?

Well it's that time again fellas...we just finished the "Can He Beat Cy Young" experiment, another fellas is working on the Hank Aaron one, and now it is the Pete Rose test.

We are going to take a list of players, starting in their rookie year, and play through their careers to see if they can beat the all time hits record. I'm going to take suggestions on players to use and I, of course, will make my own suggestions as well. So with that said, here are the ground rules for the sims.

    1. I will GM the team, auto sort will handle the lineup and pitching rotations, except for the player in question.
    2. The player will be placed in the lead off spot no matter what his ratings to ensure maximum at bats and chances to get hits.
    3. The player will remain on the same team for his entire career.
    4. League settings and options will remain as default.
    5. No trades will be offered nor will they be accepted.
    6. Player will be resigned at contract renewal to a max 7 year deal at the rate at which they request.
    7. Finances will be managed by me to provide largest profit available.
    8. One free agent signing every year will be permitted to ensure competitiveness of the team as a whole.

CHALLENGERS (make your suggestions and I will edit this post)

Don't forget Carl Crawford; he's already got 900+ hits and he's only 25, he'll have a thousand before he turns 26 so as long as he stays healthy he's got the best shot out of current players.

Keep in mind that scouting is different for each team that you start with, I believe SD was +-7 so he could be a lot better than that.

Okay guys, I just got to number 15 so I think I am going to close down suggestions for players at this point. You can still make them, just know that I might not get around to them. If this thing is that popular I will keep it going though.

So show me some support and it could go on forever

Out of those two, I'd say Holliday definitely, but I don't Atkins would have much of a chance.

I have a question, do you put a lot of money into medical staff? Obviously this is important, because an injury is usually what forces these players to retire...

And for a suggestion (if you choose to keep going and going) , Kirby Puckett!

Yep, I spend a ton of money in medical.
