First and foremost, this game, like Baseball Mogul starts at the wrong point in the season. A GM is usually hired at the end of one season and the beginning of a new season. This gives him/her time to analyze the team, look for weaknesses and needs and then try to resolve them through the free agency and draft. The games should begin right after the Super Bowl and then run through the year.
Second, add coaches and give them values that impact the teams readiness and morale.
Third, create a character factor for players that allows for suspensions for bad behavior, either by the team or the league.
Fourth, create a "holdout" catagory for players
Fifth, reduce the number of players on the teams and add the practice squads.
Sixth, repackage the plays, such as offensive packages for "single back" teams and adjust the roster positions for the starting team to reflect this, such as two tight ends for a signle back offensive or three defensive linemen and four linebackers for "3-4" teams and allow the player to build a playbook of plays to simplify and speed up the selection process.
Seventh, include motion in the plays where it is common and its impact on a defense.
Eight, add audibles.
Nineth, allow the profit levels to be adjusted to reflect different types of ownerships.
Tenth, expand the characteristics and especially include endurance and show it besides the players during the season as a bar or color dot or someone of reflecting fatigue.
11) Expand the scouting report and indicate the morale level of the player and his attitude toward the team, coaches and management.
12) Maybe add retired players as an option.
I'll add more as I think of them, but please, most important of all, adjust the start point so that we can build our own team as best we can, not run through a regular season, and hopefully the playoffs, before we can make changes.
