    I Miss Minor-League Contracts

I think that this is a side-effect of instituting inflation, but I know that in 9.45, I probably could have signed this guy for $50K. The AI could have signed him for $12K. Now I can't get him for less than the major-league minimum.

    Please bring back minor-league contracts!

Actually, no, please don't. Rather, please bring in minor league contracts the way they work in real life.

Although, that would probably require making the arbitration system work right as well..

Man, I've been meaning to mention this for weeks now myself.

I'd like real minor league contracts like Houston said. The old ones were neat, but you ended up only getting those players for 1-2 years, not nearly enough time to develop them. At the end of that span they'd demand more money then they were worth :/

Agree...I would like to sign a free agent for a minor league vacancy, but don't do so because you must pay them at least the major league minimum even if I don't want or need them on the ml roster.

Yep, I would love to be able to stock my farm system with some longshots like that just in case, but at that salary it's not worth it. I think it would also be nice for the game to put in some random free-agents from non North American countries, like in real life.

When? I have noticed an influx of new guys entering the free agent pool after draft day which are the guys that didn't get drafted. These guys are untouchable because of their low skill level combined with the salary you have to sign them at. I also notice that there are a lot of foreign players (Japan, Cuba, DR) in the draft which is technically inaccurate.

While it's not accurate to real life, that's how it happens in Mogul for the sake of simplicity. Taking time out of the developer's hands in order to add something that, while making the game more realistic, doesn't really change the final outcomes (ie. either way, foreign players come into the majors), isn't worth it

This is especially a pain for getting catchers. I find that there are never enough catchers in the league/draft that are good enough. I usually end up drafting somewhere between pick 25 and 30 and every year it's the same players available first 10 or so are pitchers then you get a couple of OF or IF mixed in with another 10 or so pitchers. At best I'll find a catcher that has 54/73 ratings. There are never any with peak's above 80. Sometimes in the later rounds I'll take a catcher or two just to fill the minors in case of injuries. But if I want a decent minor league catcher I have to pay 1-2 million on the free agent market.

Houston GM is correct, but additionally more players than are available in the draft pool are added to the Free Agent pool after the draft is complete. If you track it, you'll notice that several relatively good players (and usually very young kids) are suddenly available in the free agent pool after the draft is complete. Most of them are from outside the US, as well.

Regarding Catchers, I'm fairly sure that the difficulty in finding great catchers is somewhat intentional. Above average catchers have great fielding, since better fielding right handed players tend to gravitate towards becoming catchers (one of the most difficult fielding positions that their is). Catchers tend to be lighter hitters, on average, than most other players (except maybe shortstops, which is where the lefties usually go...). So, all catchers will naturally have great fielding but average or below average hitting. The really great catchers are going to be the good hitters as well.

Actually, it does matter, but not much, since good foreign players are usually going to end up on teams that invest a lot of money in reaching out to and/or developing those players before they reach "draft" age. Most of the time that's going to be large market teams, but it doesn't necessarily have to be.

The same can be said for regular drafted players. In real life, signability matters. In Mogul, simplicity is favored, and the difference isn't really much at all. The large market teams may not draft the top guy who drops to them due to signability concerns, but it can be modeled in Mogul as such by the large market teams putting more into their farm system, thus developing their prospects better, giving the same basic affect.
