you know, I remember thinking that this might be true around August. I remember reading a similar story then...In another ten years, we might look back on the 2006 season as the season when a new generation of exciting young pitchers made their major league debut.
I honestly don't think that people give the Yankees enough credit in terms of prospects. Sure they have no depth, but they do try to grab the best of the best whenever they can. especially from overseas (what was that kid's name they signed, from venezuela I think? Isn't he a catcher?).

signed for 2m$+
but Yankees are pretty barren at hi levels real prospects = Hughes/Clippard,Duncan (who has flunked) & Tabata (A level) outside of that zero.It is improving since 2004 but still very weak compared to Angels/Dodgers/Red Sox/D- Backs & Marlins (look at their roster this year!)
Yea, Jesus Montero...
True, but the difference between the Yankees and everyone else is that there only really interested in the "sure thing" you know? They don't even attempt to actually "develop" any players...

The Yankees dont develop because most of their prospect dont stay long enough(traded away example this year their 1st round pick from 2004 Henry already trade to Phillies in the Abreu/Lidle deal)
This philosophy of short term wins has lead to the depletion of the farm - by the way Montero was supposed to be the number 2 best player on the market (so great signing when one knows the difficulty of developing high offense catchers)
I never get my hopes up when the Brewers have a pitching prospect. Most likely he'll tear his rotator cuff or need tommy john surgey before he even makes it to the majors? Anybody remember Nick Neugerbauer?? I could have a whole thread listing others, but its kinda depressing.
but hey, the Brewers have a good solid core of very young talent. things are looking up in Milwaukee, it seems to me.

yes, in theory it does but I am very pessimistic. For example we were supposed to compete this year for a wild card. Are young core of talent is as follows:
JJ Hardy, In the last 3 years he has missed almost 2 full years with injurues!
Rickie Weeks:Probably the most talented but has also had numerous injureies and fielding problems.
Ben Sheets: Injured all time
Although we have many other young players who played good last season so yes we do have a promising future, but after 14 straight years of losing Brewers fans want more than just"promising future". If the Tigers can do it so can we.
bah, the Brewers have been a losing team for exactly one season, the 2006 one. They did not have a losing season in 2005![]()
The Yankees look at all the rest of MLB as being their farm system. It'll be that way as long as Steinbrenner is in control, and as long as their revenues remain as high as they are.
As a Dodgers fan, I thank the good Lord for Logan White, director of scouting. He's as valuable to LA as Derek Lowe or Rafael Furcal.
