    Dual controls is probably for inexperienced pilots....so that if the pilot makes a mistake, the instructor can correct it without risking their lives.

    Good point, and he was with a flying instructor. So hopefully his wife gets the insurance money.

    well, ok. All FAA aproved, general aviation and commercial aircraft have dual controls.

    I know for a fact A6M Zero did not have dual controls....
