Six years, a billion dollars, no rings. It's a failure of enormous proportion.

To trade him, the Yankees will obviously have to take a big chunk of his salary. I believe they're only paying him about 16 mil a year with Texas paying the rest currently. So, if they agree to pay 6-8 mil a year, I'm sure he'd have some takers.

I actually thought of Mussina when I heard some idiot blather about how A-Rod was a bust only because the Yankees haven't won since they brought him in. Mussina's been there twice as long and has as many rings .

Also, since A-Rod's supposedly so bad in the postseason, why weren't they starting his backup at 3rd in the playoffs? No one ever explains that...

are you talking about those same mariners that win 117 games and then dont even know what the playoffs look like for the next 8 years.

I think that if the Yanks trade him there are only two teams open for it. Dodgers and Angels. Both can afford him.
No way in Hel1 they let him get to Boston. Period. Also no way they want him racking up back pages in NYC papers with the Mets. So who's left that can pay him and will pay him?

Angels have the ammo(porspects & pitching - Santana or Escobar maybe) & the willingness to go after a big bat this off season - they will go after both A-Rod (if the Yankees do consider he is a "bust" in the big apple & that is a mighty big if) or Tejeda (same thing willingness of the Orioles to trade & the missing pieces available for Orioles eg Kendrick,Aybar,Wood,McPherson,Morales/Kotchman + pitching)

I'm a Dodgers fan and there has been some speculation about trading for ARod but only if the Yankees eat part of his contract. Nobody wants to take on that monster without help.

It's not as big as it soundds right now. Relatively speaking of course. The Rangers are chipping in a hefty chunk of change every year already.

It looks like the Yankees are paying $16M/year for A-Rod: http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/200...riguez_01.html

Yeah. Like I said, I think if the Yankees eat anywhere from 6-8 milklion more, a team would gladly take A-Rod off their hands. I'd love a perennial MVP candidate at short stop/third base for around $10M ay ear

    Re: "I sucked"

It'd be tough to convince them to eat 6-8 million/year more of his deal. You have an MVP quality player at a 4-year/64M deal. That's not too bad when you consider that players like Carlos Lee will probably get $12M+ per year on the free agent market. Maybe the Yankees would take a couple million off the deal, but $16M/year is a pretty good deal as it stands. If they were to trade him, they'd probably have to kick in a little but I don't think they'd throw in all that much.

Besides, they've got the position of strength in any deal. If they don't get the deal they like, they still can plug him in the lineup at 3rd base and get a darn good season. Plus, if you trade him, who would you replace him with?
