They got beat by pitching, it's that simple. The best batters in the history of the game can't constantly beat good pitching.

You're right about that. Plus, a whole lot of kudos go to the Tigers, hitting, pitching, the lot. That's a team that went through the crucible of pain - they nearly lost 120 games just a few years ago, and management buckled down, made some good pickups (Rodriguez), showed some patience (Bonderman), and didn't panic. Teams that were built as teams first and have cultivated their talent will usually beat "teams" made of overpriced spare parts (the Yankees, every single effing year).

Seeing the Redsox miss the playoffs and watching the yanks loose in the first round is almost as good as seeing my mariners make the playoffs![]()

He played with Texas through there "bad" seasons, but he was a idiott to want to leave when they were on the rise. Imagine a texas team now with a-rod. Texiera, Young, Blaylock, A-rod, and more with decent pitching. I think the Rangers felt pressured into trading A-rod because he was making it clear he wanted to win. In texas A-rod would have alot less pressure and the ball flies in the Rangers Stadium. He won't be a yankee by '08.

Alex Rodriguez has a clause in his contract that allows him to void the contract, following the 2007 seasons (and 2008, 2009, contract expires after 2010 season)

A-Rod wanted the ring & wanted out he felt he wasnt treated with respect in Texas (tell me how you dont treat someone with respect when you sign to the highest salary ever ...) & wuld have played for the Devil Rays if they had a shot at the title;
He is history in the Bronx IF they can find someone to take on that 25m$+ "albatross" contract - not that many teams & those teams are in a really good position compared to the Yankees trade wise
Only team I can see who can handle it is the "Angels" who would have to give up Figgins,Santana & 1 or 2 prospects high price no ?
Im glad he didn't come to Boston. I'm glad he went to the Y&nk##$. I would much rather have Manny(the guy who would have been traded for A-rod ) and Nomar for a bit of a season A-rod and Magglio Ordoniez for a full season.(Magglio was the guy Boston was going to get if Boston got A-rod. Nomar would then have been traded for Magglio)
Debatable but the only reality is that thanks to this non trade the Sox won in 2004;
However A-Rod would have been a steadfast SS in Boston producing his yearly .300 BA & 40 HR's & a LF (even though not as good as Manny) would have been "findable" - ex include Wikerson (at the time),Lee,Ordonez etc
Since the non trade Boston have had 4 SS in 3 years from Nomar,Cabrera (vastly under valued),Renteria & Gonzalez & apparently another new guy for '07 - but the Q remains is A-Rod worth 25m$ ?
No other teams in the league are dumb enough to trade for A-Rod with a salary like that. Only the fools in pinstripes or those crazy cats in Beantown![]()
every team can afford him, few teams are willing![]()
