    Same Pitcher Earns Win And Save

    BBM 9.39 on Windows XP SP2:

    I know section 10.19(c)(1) of the official rules says that when the SP goes less than five:

    (1) When, during the tenure of the starting pitcher, the winning team assumes the lead and maintains it to the finish of the game, credit the victory to the relief pitcher judged by the scorer to have been the most effective;

    However, 10.20(2) clearly says that the same guy cannot earn the save. While Tony Fossas certainly pitched well enough in the attached game to earn the win, either he should have earned the win and no save, or (as more likely would have happened IRL) either Rusty Meacham or John Smoltz should been credited with the win.

    I think this was reported a while ago by someone else, but I can't find it.

    Oh, and since I haven't been on the boards of late, I just wanted to say what a great job Clay has been doing.

    Okay, here goes: you've been doing a great job, Clay.

    When Tim Wakefield finally stops pitching, I'll have to admit my own mortality.
