I went through the reasons why the trade made sense a year ago. I'm not going to rehash them. What has transpired since proves that those reasons were valid, and I don't think pointing to an older...

    Re: MLB 2013-2014 offseason discussion

Hanigan was not "no value." He was a solid part time catcher, and aren't you one to talk up "veteran presence"? Having a guy like Hanigan around as Swihart is brought up has some intangible value,...

Remember when we used to savagely make fun of the Washington Nationals for everything down to how they sewed letters onto their uniforms? And then they kind of got good and it subsided?

It's in the game, in Sortable Stats and also available in Leaderboards. I'm also pretty certain it's on one of the pitching dialog displays.

    Re: MLB 2014-2015 Offseason discussion

I enjoyed watching All Star games more prior to the switch to making it count. They were more fun and laid back, and that's what I want from a midseason All Star break, and how I view an exhibition...

    Re: MLB 2014-2015 Offseason discussion

Fangraphs WAR is based off of FIP. B-R WAR is based off runs allowed. ESPN is the same as B-R WAR, Kershaw is 24th in the NL (49th is his MLB rank).

Basically, if you think that pitchers...

  25. Re: Minor leaguer shows as veteran -- "Second season"

It is possible for a player to gain MLB service time without appearing in any games. Being on the active roster (including during September when rosters expand) will add service time.
