When developing prospects, does it matter what level of the minors you put them in? I looked in the help files, but didn't see anything.
Thanks,
Scott

I think the standard is said to be somewhere aroundQuote:

There's also a more advanced standard concerning age floating around but I think that's all matter of opinion.

Thanks for the info. Does putting a guy with 56 overall rank in AAA diminish his development rate at all? Or does it have a different effect if you put him in Rookie ball?
Usually he'll stagnate and never reach his full potential. It would be like putting an 8 year old on the varsity high school team.Quote:

I've moved a few players up, with ratings of 77/94 and 88/94, because they were better than my starting 9. Will this have any negative effect on their progress? Or will it in fact speed it up?
wow, old thread. great job using search, i'm just surprised that you didn't pick a newer thread on this issue is all.
Anyway, welcome to the forum, and the community! There are worse questions that you could ask with your first post here than this one.
There's alot of 'voodoo science' that get's thrown around here on this subject. The important things to understand are listed at the bottom of this page: http://www.sportsmogul.com/baseballcd/help/Lineup.htm
But even that is only a general guideline. I beleave that what SFSteve said on december 1st of 2005 is still true. If you push a player too quickly, he'll simple be unable to compete and his rating will stagnate. By the same token, if you leave him at a lower level too long, i'm sure the same problem is true.Code:Overall Rating Minor League Level
70 or higher AAA
63 - 69 AA
57 - 62 A
Below 57 R
There's also discussion on this issue in the following threads:

And i'm sure that there's more.
Thanks for the help ohms - that second thread did circle around the same issues. Most people replying said that around 79 or 80 they promote to the Majors, but I assume each game can involve different levels of talent, depending on team, slider settings and what not.
I'm glad I gave this game a second try - after errors during installation, and then various freezes, I finally got to start a season as the Red Sox - only to be dismayed by anomolies like "David Ortiz HATES Boston. He wants to leave." After a few months I picked it back up and started an entirely fictional league, with the new 9.45 patch. I still get some bugs - box scores and game summaries error out from the calendar screen, players disappear from my roster (rarely), simming the season ahead of time leaves transaction history that never happened, and the occasional freeze - but I love the stats and GM-ing that this game makes possible.
In this fictional Arizona roster, I have an overabundance of talent - 10 starting pitchers rated 83 or over (including minors), several 80's relievers as well, and position prospects in AA and AAA that quickly outclassed my starters. A few trades have made this even harder to manage - now I have players with 80 ratings having great seasons, and players with 83 and up having decent seasons - my overall record is like 72-18, default settings and simming day by day, playing one game a week in PBP mode.
I have noticed that stats randomly increase now and then - my 77/94 catcher became 80/94 just after a game - and my AA and AAA pitchers are increasing now and then. I just need to figure out the perfect balance to get these guys to their full potential.
honestly, it sounds like something could be wrong with your install. I would take the game completely off your computer (you can sage the .mog file, and not loose any of your current progress) and reinstall it from scratch if I were you. That way, it'll patch directly to 9.45.
Thanks for the tip, HoustonGM - HTML format makes them pop up. Woohoo!
When I leave the game box scores and summary as text, I get this error, even though the file is created in the directory, and the path looks fine.
huh, that was supposed to be fixed in 9.45
could you verify for us what version you're using? just click on the Help menu, and select version information. thanks.
ps.: when posting pictures in the forum, could you please take a moment and convert them to .jpg format? it saves everyone bandwidth (meaning $$$).
Sure Ohms -
Baseball Mogul 2007 (Version 9.4.5.0)
Build Date: September 25, 2006
As we've determined, my install is slightly buggy, but I'm trying to sort through the glitches one by one. I'll just opt for HTML to make it easier. I actually work in software analysis/QA, so maybe I can help fix some of these in the future.
yea, you're welcome to make bug reports, or add details to any exiting ones. we (mostly HGM, SirKodiak, dolfanar, and I; plus a scattering of other folks) could always use help!
:)
did you ever use any of the "unofficial" patches? i'm trying to determine how that situation could have been created, is all. Like I said above, that error was supposed to have been fixed with... 9.44B or C if I remember correctly.
What version was this particular .mog file started on?
Also, if you start a new game, does the problem ALWAYS exist?
