about the NL CENTRAL, I think that the cards will easly win the division....with my fingers crossed, I hope Junior Griffey will start hitting....He needs a big year...and I actually thought at the begining of the year, the Reds would make a run at the Wildcard...assuming that Prior and Wood get hurt.
The Reds don't have the depth to win the wildcard in the Central. The Cards and the Cubs (even with injuries) would knock them down too far.Quote:

I agree w/ Bobby. The Astros, other than Jason "Red Killer" Lane and their two stud pitchers, haven't looked very good. (If I was Clemens, I'd be pissed that my team lost three 1-0 extra inning games in a row. His only win came against the Reds, when he drove in two runs in a 3-2 victory.) The Cubs are just starting their annual self-destruct a little early this year.
With Freel and Pena, the Reds actually have a better bench than most of their competition. They'll finish second this year, but it will still be 15+ games back of St. Louis.
Believe me or not, but I offer this gold-plated prediction (which pains me to say): the wild card won't come from the Central this year.:(
I wouldn't count out the reds yet... If there young hitters can come around and griffey can start hittting i think this team has a ligit chance of going to the playoffs but the players aren't experienced enough to do anything more than that. And I agree with JohnyMo the reds do have good deph in freel and the combo of Dunn, Griffey, Kearns, and Pena in the outfield.Quote:

Not to mention save machine Danny Graves!! The Reds are contenders for sure! The Cubs are falling off, and even though the Cardinals have added extra hustle and heart(Eckstein) this year, I don't know about losing one of the best DP combos last year. Not to mention Scott "Choker" Rolen going 0 for the World Series. The Reds have a clubhouse leader in Junior who can lead the unexperienced players deep into the playoffs.
I told ya'll that Moyer was going to have a good year this year however it's just the begining of the season. I was optimistic about the rest of the pitching staff until now, and I bet they wished they still had Freddy Garcia.
I think the yanks will make it to the playoffs, but man do they stink this year.

Podsednik has started every game this year except for a couple missed because of a sore groin. Lee will never be more than a .260/30 HR/150 K player. He's solid, but the team is better without him. When Thomas comes back, him and Everett will probably split DH time but Scotty Pods will still be patrolling left. Also, the most underrated acquisition of anyone was us getting Tadahito Iguchi, he has been so clutch and turns the DP faster than anyone I've seen in a long time.Quote:

Ok, I exaggerated the K's. The trade that sent Lee to Milwaukee was for cash more than anything. The money that was freed up was used to sign Iguchi, Pierzynski, and El Duque. Pods brings speed and leadership. And if Carlos Lee ever wins the MVP, or comes remotely close, I'll eat my hat. He can't field and is a nice player, but not the cornerstone of an organization.
Maybe the deal will pay off, the whitesox haven't done so bad yet this year while going for more of a leadership, speed, and small ball type of team.Quote:
