So earliar today i was looking at the league leaders and I noticed that Brian Roberts was tied for the league lead with 6 homerruns! Do u guys think hes for real and he can keep hitting homeruns all season??? The guy only hit 4 homeruns in 641 atbats last years! And how bout the dodgers. Can they keep it up??? Baseball is back! Comment on any early season notes/predictions here...
Well I think that barring injuries to Baltimore this season Brian Roberts can end up a 40-40 guy. At least 30-30.
i think Brian Roberts is having a hot start, but he will eventually cool off. Its hard to just become a power hitter. I cant see him hitting 30, i think 15-20 is more likely what he'll end up with.
And dont forget the Nationals who are off to hot start. what about Vinny Castilla, does anyone think hes got something left in his tank?
I think all in all the Nationals and Brian Roberts will cool off, but they both look like they are going to deliver solid seasons.
what about the mets last night. 7 homeruns in the first 4 innings. They were just shelling Vincente Padilla and Gavin Floyd. Does anyone think the Mets are going to make the playoffs?

im a Mariners fan because it is my hometown team(plus i love Beltre and Sexson) but im a braves fan at heart. I grew up in Atlanta then moved out here so i stick with the braves as my favorite team. I cant abandon the braves now. Out of the AL the M's are defenitley the best and i do root for the Mariners all the time(unless they happen to be playing the braves).
And sorry for the Nats but the Braves are gonna win their 14th straight. Jordan and Mondesi are both going to have comeback years and we have Andy Marte and Jeff Francouer next year or in two years. Plus we've got one of the best starting rotation in baseball(Hamptons the third starter!).
The braves might be luck and finish 4th in there division with the way the nationals and the mets are playing i don't even know if they can do that. I guarentee the mariners will put up a better record than the braves and how bout jamie moyer 3 and 0.Quote:

hahaha speaking of braves i read on espn that john rocker is making another comeback to the league. He told espn that he expects to be back in the league in 4-6 weeks. His last stint in the mlb was in 2003 where he was cut before pitching in his second inning. Do u guys think hes another waste of time???
I forgot how young Rocker is. It was kind of a shock when I was playing the '93 amateur draft last night, and there he was, waiting for me to pick him up. I said if he really wanted to play for me, we could talk about it on the 7 train out to Flushing, and he got cold feet for some reason...:rolleyes:Quote:

You cant hate on the braves like that. They are getting older but they are still solid. Giles and Furcal in the middle infield, Andruw and Chipper, the braves will be fine. The Nats and Mets will fizzle out and, as usual the braves will make a late run to win the division. Dont worry about when age finally catches up with the braves, they have a great minor leauge system(not as good as the M's though).Quote:

I do think the M's will put up a better record than the braves, and moyer is defenitley on a roll. He really hasnt slowed down with age.
Another thing, just looked at mlb.com, Clint Barmes is the average leader. Hes really is breaking out. I dont even remeber that much hype surrounding him in the minors. Think Barmes is here to stay, or is he just another guy off to a hot start.
Giles is a overrated (only famous cause hes brother) furcal has a very unaccurate arm and to streaky from the plate. Jones will strike out more than he'll reach base. Chipper is about 35 and injury prone. Braves can not and will not compete!!Quote:

Maybe I'm a biased Giants fan, but I think there's no way the Dodgers are for real this year. With n00b DePodesta as their GM, and I don't care if Billy "The Ego" Beane was his mentor either. I guess they don't teach you about valuable leadership and human interaction at Harvard!
Not only did DePodesta trade away the heart and soul of the team in Paul Lo Duca for nothing, he let two of the best clubhouse leaders, Beltre and Cora, go through free agency. Hey! You're not in Oakland anymore! You can actually spend money now! LOL! But he did bring in Lowe, who is a proven winner, but I don't think its enough.
He's lucky he had Steve Finley last year to provide veteren leadership and incredible clutch or else my Giants would have been in the playoffs like they will this year. Who's going to do it in '05? Hee Seop Choi? LOL!
