I'd love Basketball Mogul. I think that the "historical rookies" that you added to Baseball Mogul this year would transfer best to basketball. I'm sure changing everything over to basketball is only like 2 lines of code, at best.
One problem I foresee is the lack of a "lahman" type database as a foundation for all the stats and rosters. Does one exist for basketball?

This can be a fun change-of-pace, but the default rosters should have a great defensive team in Detroit, and a superstar who skipped college in Cleveland...
Does anyone know of a better NBA game?
No, that's pretty much the best one out there. Please make a good one? :o

YES!! a Basketball Mogul PLZ~~~~~
even if you make it like the original Baseball Mogul, itd still be better than most of the ones out right now. :)
btw clay. best basketball game is World Basketball Manager(WBM). the problem i have with the game is the training, and the players stats dont really reflect real world avgs.

not sure if the demo still works, but the game was pretty good.
as for soccer, there are quite a bit of quality/established management games out there. as listed prior all of those, plus I'd like to add a Japanese one which is my all time fav "Sakatsuku"(full title "J League Soccer Team Tsukurou" = Let's make a J-League soccer team).

Basketball Sim
I'd love to see a basketball sim I know I would buy it for sure. The best basketball sim out there is probably Fast Break College Basketball. It is a good game but cost way to much and nothing is ever done for it really. If Sports Mogul was to make a basketball sim NBA or NCAA it would easily be the best of its kind. As long as you kept the interface similar to baseball mogul which is easy to get around in and easy to learn and you charge the same price as baseball mogul which is an extremly good deal, and just sending out a few patches here and there you will have done things other basketball sims cannot do.You will have alot of people buying your game.

Basketball Basketball Basketball, I need a good Basketball sim just like I need my Baseball Mogul.

I think there is definitely a market for an NBA sim, considering Total Pro and Jump Shot must have made some sales, and they were ****.

There is a good hockey sim

Not that wide open anymore. There is Eastside Hockey Manager. This game is developed by SI Games (maker of the Championship Manager soccer game) and distributed through Sega. http://www.sigames.com/ehm/
Eastside is really deep and a must for hockey fans.

Personally I'd take BBM up a level and then work on branching out.
I think adding the top ten features from the "what would you like to see thread" and perfecting them would be that next level. Then maybe i'd work on other sports.

i would really like to see a new football mogul to come out this aug.

Working on it right now. The caveat is that the only new features are small ones. The main goal is to fix issues from last year and update the rosters.

Have you played it? Do you know if there's a way to sim through the season without having to watch every game?? That's one thing I've found annoying with EHM....could be just a demo thing...maybe the full version allows for faster simming.

Re: Sports Mogul's Next Game
Love Baseball Mogul.
Would also like to see a Basketball Mogul to simulate the NBA.

Re: Sports Mogul's Next Game
I would really like to see a Football Mogul Online or a Basketball Mogul Online. If neither of those happen than I would recommed a major upgrade to BMO.
-
Re: Sports Mogul's Next Game
Stick to the game that has made so many of us happy, Baseball Mogul. I'd say completely revamp the game and make it better then ever! Don't change too much though Clay, we love it how it is.

Re: Sports Mogul's Next Game
How about Football Mogul? (that being real football in the English sense of the word). Don't know what kind of following MLS has in the States, though. However, from my experience of 'Football Manager' over here, the strategic options are legion, much fun and addictiveness.

Agreed. That's why we'd have a hard time competing against some very strong football/soccer management games.

However, you'd be servicing a US audience mainly, no? What's wrong with 'MLS Manager'?
I haven't noticed any American Soccer Management games on the market. Correct me if I'm wrong. And BBM isn't all that well known over here. So perhaps you don't feel the US is the best market for this type of game?

Re: Sports Mogul's Next Game
I can't see Soccer Mogul being that big a hit over here. I love BBM and BBMO, but you'd have to really sell me on Soccer Mogul. But maybe I'm alone in that regard.

I don't know jack about soccer so that would be a big turn-off from me buying the game. Basketball is a game I do know and would like to see what the folks at Sports Mogul Could do with a Basketball game. :D

Re: Sports Mogul's Next Game
Here's an idea. How about SOFTBALL mogul. It would be much the same but with alcohol ratings and whatnot. Or you guys can start ignoring my suggestions again.

Baseball Mogul Online has some issues to work out. Get that right before going to new things.

What I know about soccer: (1) I played it in elementary and middle school gym classes by force. (2) The kids who were not skilled enough to play baseball or big enough to play American football played it. (3) My 7 year old daughter plays it well (so her coach tells me) and so did Rod Stewart  (4) It looks like hockey without ice. (5) It looks like hockey without the beer. (5) No one is in the stadium during the MLS games. (6) It looks like hockey without all the fighting  . (2) What the H#ll is a striker anyways?

P.S. Striker was in the Airplane movies.

You should go to a Celtic Vs Rangers game sometime :D ;)

Your chance to see Celtic vs Rangers is this Saturday, as Gordon Strachan's Bhoys take on Gers in a (futile?) last chance attempt to save Alex McLeish's job as manager at half seven on the pitch at Celtic Park. Gers hoping to reverse utterly shambolic play of late.
Of course, if you were holding out for viewing Revolution (football - New England) vs Patriots (american football - New England) or even Celtics (basketball - Boston) vs Rangers (hockey - New York) on the other side of the pond, you may have to wait a wee bit longer.
Given that 98+% on leftcoast US (nor the right coast US for that matter..) had nary a scooby on what any of that blather meant, they probably are still trying to envisage why someone would recommend an unlikely cross-sport match.
Cheers
leftcoast
(p.s. astounding what a yankee can pick up in several trips to Glasgow and regular listening to Ruffy on Real radio Football phone in knowing bugger all about this classic rivalry not too long back...)

Re: Sports Mogul's Next Game
Well now that is different. I understand now. Soccer, over there, Celtic vs. Rangers. I have heard of a soccer team with that name but the N.Y. Rangers is the one that comes to mind first. Never heard of another franchise called the Celtics though. However I would still pay big for the NFL/MLS matchup. :D

Clay's right - no point in Mogul jumping into this market. Championship Manager is hands-down the best sports management sim I've ever played (at least the 01-02 version). No minors per se, but you have a reserve squad for youth players, and lower-league teams essentially perform the same task as minor-league squads in BBM. CM is incredibly detailed, and might be a bit daunting for someone unfamiliar with the game, but the depth of the gameplay is stunning and worth it.
The game also has some of the features I'd love to see Clay incorporate into the Mogul games like hiring coaches, managing player training, and retiring players potentially becoming coaches.
MLS had better attendance than Hockey last season. ;)

Re: Sports Mogul's Next Game
After reading all 8 pages +1 and playing Eastside Hockey Manager, which is a very very good sim game but has some flaws. Some of the good things about it is that it has real players down to the age of 15/16. I have a friend who was drafted into the CHL last year and he and i both found it so cool that he was in a game already. That is something ive never heard of in any other game. If you really do your homework for hockey mogul and combine it with what youve already done with baseball mogul you could have a good competitor with EHM in the ever growing population of hockey fans. (Highest Attendence for the month of November in 10 years this year)

Re: Sports Mogul's Next Game
Okay well having read through I agree with Leafs, hockey mogul would sell well especially if done similar to baseball mogul and with some good added in things... I've looked at EHM and just don't like it... too **** much that is the nice thing about Mogul... easy to use and good to go right from the start... always a selling feature. There is such a thing as too much. It's like BM vs OOTP....
Now the other notion much like basketball is the lack of a database... now EA NHL uses a mog file, which is editable with NHL View program, so perhaps could use that mog file as a db making current rosters as available as the online EA Hockey persons put them out... there's a few sites too so plenty of rosters available. Not only that but there's also rosters made for international, CHL, AHL etc.
I'd not buy a basketball game as don't like basketball but thinking basketball and hockey would do quite well.... after that the sports get very niche market or I'd say Lacross too but...
Honestly could see the baseball mogul engine modified to hockey... similar interface really with ability to hire/fire coaches, set lineups, perhaps set up the minors slightly different but similar.... drafting is there as is schedule and set ups for conference and division ( it's similar to what we already have in baseball ) and of course minor tweaks to building arenas instead of diamonds, and of course there's the newspaper too!! Modify it to be say... Hockey News Digest or something cool like that and it would work...
I'd vote for hockey over basketball but only because my interests would go in that direction.
