Sports Mogul's Next Game
i say sportsmogul is known for baseball mogul
make the best baseball mogul ever
build it and they will come
I love baseball and BBM so fo course i want that in there. I would totally want to try basketball mogul and would support the effort.
If Basketball Mogul looks as good as Baseball Mogul does, I'd buy it for sure.
I want to know what kind of non-sports game you guys would make? Some other business sim?
How about a Newspaper game. You run a newspaper and hire writers and get syndicated articles/writers and run distribution along with promotion and advertising. I know a lot about this (I'm a distributor) and it would be fun (maybe I'm a loser) to be able to get exclusive contracts with all the best sports writers or compete to become the premire financial/general news/entertainment/smut source.
I can't believe I want to bring my work home and play it.
Don't make the same mistake as some of the other text sims. Stick to your roots! Stick to what made you great in the first place. People liked 2k6, but it would definitely sell a lot better with a whole new interface and whatnot!
BBMO is long overdue for a change! Give the Online game something fresh
I agree with Lucidi. The same ole interface is getting a little old.Quote:

However, if you were looking to spin off some sort of business sim, I'd pay $200 in a heartbeat for a REALLY good airline management game. Anyone here remember Aerobiz from the Genesis/SNES consoles?
I would love to see a Basketball Mogul!!!!! It would be the best thing ever besides baseball mogul!!!!:D
Mickey - you ever play Airbucks? Not really terribly realistic, but somewhat fun.Quote:

There is a new version in the works too.
BMO needs a new interface......also, the BMO isnt has fun as it used to be....Make me feel like my $15bucks a month is worth something.....really the game hasnt changed that much from the customer perspective....but it is still revolutionary...but for how long???
The next game should be a total overhaul of Baseball Mogul Online...
i like the way 2k6 has turned out, and feel that BM2k6 was a overhaul....
now if the online version doesnt get done, then i would like to see a basketball or not sports game done.
My $0.02- right now stick with baseball and football. Last year's football mogul still has issues. As much as I love both games, stick with them and get them right before branching out. I would rather go a year without a new release of something and have that time spent on either fixing what doesn't work or re-doing altogether that game so that it works with only minor flaws.
I am a sucker for basketball sims tho...
Whatever it is that is chosen, have the goal of making it the best out there with the best support behind it.
I didn't before, but I do now. This is great!Quote:
i honestly think that football mogul is a lost cause....
I think you said you'd pay $200.00 for it!Quote:

At least! :D
I've always been interested in a Basketball sim game, so I'll go with Basketball Mogul.
:)
Stay with your strength, baseball.Quote:

Down the line however I would like to see basketball mogul and then possibly much later on hockey mogul. Personally, if you decided to go a different direction than sports I would lose interest. The tycoon series is already available for people who want to push non-sports titles they would like to see. Stay with your strength, sports.
personally I think soccer would be a greater business opportunity for Sports Mogul. Hockey is definitely limited, basketball might be good, but soccer could potentially globalize Sports Mogul's opportunities. Hook up with the good people from Hattrick and I know it'd be a winner.

This is a very interesting thread. So many different opinions.
Baseball Mogul is our core product and we will continue to put a lot of energy into that. The #1 reason I posted this poll was to see where demand stood for football, hockey and hoops.
It's very interesting to see that Basketball Mogul has a big lead among those 3 (it's also the game I'm most excited to make -- I haven't been a hockey fan since the 1980s Bruins).
Clay
for a basketball sim, i would love to see a NCAA basketball sim..not an NBA. I would love to be the coach, and recruit players, and try to win NCAA tour.....also, the more you win, the more money you get....and the more happy your school admins are....In a NCAA sim, It would have to be a mix between a coach and Adminastrater.Quote:

(pardon my spelling :) )
I like boomboom's idea about the Baskeball game being NCAA. Personally, either one would be very cool but I see where he is coming from and it makes a lot of sense and it sounds more fun.
I think you should create either basketball or hockey mogul, and yes if basketball make it NCAA . By making a new mogul you will draw more attention to the site, if someone searches for a good basketball or hockey sim and they find it here then they may be intrigued to buy baseball or football mogul also and it isnt like you will lose sales on baseball mogul, because every1 already loves that game.:)
The only problem with an NCAA-based game is licensing, which I guess could be averted by creating a database of fictional colleges. But a Basketball Mogul would be worth a buy for me.
Personally I'd like to see Football Mogul overhauled in this fashion - with college teams and conferences, the bowl games, etc. I'd gladly pony up some dough for that, though not the $200 Mickey would for what he'd like.
Another thing I'd like is to really beef up the customization options in Baseball Mogul, particularly league sizes, divisional alignments, schedules, etc. Maybe its something that was addressed in 2K6, but I wouldn't mind having the option of splitting the NL into 4 divisions of 4 teams, for instance; or having the AL with 2 divisions of 7 teams and the NL with 3 divisions, etc.
The pro version of Football Mogul? Yeah, I gotta go with those who say that's a dead horse. Though I wouldn't say I'll never buy another SMI product again (I would, and in fact probably will at some point buy BBM2K6 for instance), I was burned badly enough on Football Mogul that I don't think I've bought anything since.
Hockey for me I'd like a chance to see where Neely may have ended up if he'd seen and levelled Ulf! :D
this would be a really cool football game...NCAA Football MOGULQuote:

Regarding non-sports sims, I think a good restaurant simulation game would be interesting. Sort of like Pizza Tycoon, but not restricted to pizza. The ideas sim would allow you to choose the restaurant type (italian, chinese, ect..), set the menu, hire staff, ect...
I've played Pizza Tycoon, that game was horrible! Or maybe Im thinking of Fast Food Tycoon.
Does anyone remember Dino Park for MS-DOS and Macintosh? That game is hardcore.
That sounds good except it would take FOREVER to make well without 5 times the staff.Quote:

Dino Park was fricken Awesome! I played that in gradeschool.
There are a couple of good NCAA basketball sims out there, as well as pro sims. Whatever the next endeaver may be, I just hope that Clay puts out his best like baseball. Don't be worried about release dates- release a good game in the timing that it takes to make it good and relatively bug-free.
I agree with boomboom... I would way rather see a basketball mogul or even just work hard to make more updates for baseball mogul.Quote:

a basketball mogul would be really cool but i would love to see an improved football mogul. Im a huge football fan and i love football mogul. I would definitley buy it if it came out. Mogul though should definitley stick to sports if they do expand. I think a really cool game would be if you could be one player through out a whole career. you could demand trades and negotiate contracts for yourself. If a game like that came out i would buy it in a heartbeat.
i still think baseball mogul is the best mogul game period.
OOTP developments made a game like this called Inside The Park Baseball. I played it. It's kinda fun, but kinda old after a while (its also slow).Quote:

I would love to see a basketball Mogul Online. similar to Baseball mogul online....
I would pay to play that!
I think any other game has to build on the strengths of BBM. Why do we all play BBM? It's not just because of the sim speed (although that is definitely a plus). The underlying structure that makes BBM so appealing is being the GM/VP/CEO of the team.Quote:

Translating this to the realm of college sports would not be impossible, but the financial aspect would have to be changed significantly. Would the player be the AD, or would s/he also be the president and even the board of trustees? How will budgets be set?
There are plenty of wealthy owners in MLB with low-revenue teams who will not inject any of their own money to pay for team expenses; we, as GM/VP, need to run the team with the understanding that we're not going to get any funding courtesy of other, profitable divisions of the owner's portfolio.
In general, the only sports at the colllegiate level that at least break even are Division I football, men's and women's basketball, and (in God's country) men's hockey. And, greater than 50% of those teams never finish in the black. So, why keep them going? Building morale among the student body? Somewhat. Building complete student-athletes? Yeah, right. Keeping alumni involved? Bingo. The major revenue sources at US universities are (in no particular order) alumni contributions, tuition/room/board, and government funding. Ticket sales are pretty low on the list (although beer sales at 'SC games were always pretty robust).
Granted, in the major conferences, money flows into the athletic department from the conference, but the underlying issue here is that as AD, you need to provide funding for all of your sports, not just the one you care about. And, for most schools, at least a portion of their budget comes from outside the athletic department. This creates an awful lot of variables over which the player would have little control.
I'll keep this short, but here's one more fly in the ointment: recruiting. This takes the place of the amateur draft and free agency. It's a heck of a lot more nuanced than either of those, but I can't think of a way that SM would implement recruiting that would be really satisfying.
My sister is the head women's soccer and lacrosse coach for a D-III school. You want a challenge? D-III Athletic Director Mogul gets my vote.
