Clay: Could you respond to this question?

I remember Sky Dog mentioned in the beta stage that many sports sim players would like the ability to start with a fictional roster. Was this ever considered? Is it being considered for a future update? This would be a feature that would likely clinch me buying the game, and I'm sure it would do the same for many others. It just seems that with the game's ability to start with a clean slate records-wise, it would be nice to be able to start the game in any year from 1901 to 2005 without any real players at all.

Clearly I'm not Clay, however, I do know that 2K6 allows you to start with fictional players just like older versions of mogul as seen in the screenshot I posted. Unfortunately, BBM2K6 doesn't include an already made fictional .mog file like in past versions. You have to create it from scratch. The good news is once you save it you can reuse it. Also, if you search the boards you may find one someone already created.

Considered but didn't make it in. Should be able to next version. Not sure about a patch.

Until then, folks should post their own fictional rosters. If everyone posts one, it will be just like a random roster generator.

If you start a poll and I find that hundreds of folks want it, I might be able to focus on it in a patch.

The problem with ".mog databases" is that only a few people know HOW to make a custom database, me not included. I could (I suppose) create one with custom players by deleting every team and creating new ones from scratch, but that's a horribly roundabout way to go about things.

Why not post the one that came with 2K4 or 2K5?

How about somebody putting together a tutorial on how to make one. That seems easy enough if anyone is so inclined to spend the time and I would certianly appreciate it.

It would be nice to have a bunch of tutorials for how to do different things in the game such as changing various aspects of actual code. Experimenting can sometimes result in problems that are not immediately evident. If I knew what I was doing I'd certianly make some because I know how much they help people.

These are the steps I used to take when creating fictional associations.

1. Start a season in 2005.
2. Enable Commissioner Mode.
2. Sign all of the free agents to a team.
3. Go into the League Editor and select the Arizona Diamondbacks from the drop down box under the "erase team" and "add team" buttons.
4. Click on the "erase team" button and then click ok in the message box that pops up.
5. Click on the "add team" button.
6. Assign the team a city that is out West.
7. Give the team a nickname, three letter abbreviation, minor league team names, and whatever amount of cash you want the team to start out with.
8. In the dropdown box for division, select "National West" .
9. Repeat steps 3 thru 8 until every real team has been replaced with a fictional one.
Note: where national or west is underlined, National = X = League of team being deleted and West = Y = Division or region of team being deleted. For instance, if the team you where replacing was Washington then replace them with a city out east and assign the replacement team to the "National East" division.
8. Once all of the real teams have been replaced with fictional ones, add another team and leave the name as [Empty Team].
9. Go to [Empty Team] and release players until BBM will no longer let you. This will give you a fictional free agent pool.
10. Go back into the league editor and erase [Empty Team].
11. Save the mog file as Universe30TEAM.
12. Go back into the league editor and remove one team from the "National Central" and one from the "National West".
13. Save the mog file as Universe28TEAM.
14. Repeat steps 12 and 13 until you have all the desired league structures.

You now have several fictional Universe Files with various league sizes that you could use over and over.

...and these are the steps I use in every other text sim:

1. Hit "create fictional association" button (whatever it is called in the specific game.)
2. Start game.

Mogul really needs to catch up with the rest of the text sim world in this area.

IF anyone has gone through the steps, please post one in the player databases tab.

I have tried to do this in the past (create one) but ran into the issues of the pre-1920 league, so gave up.

The two previous versions already did but it was left out of this one. That's why I suggested Clay post the one that came with those.

That's still not quite it. Every other text sim I play comes with a fictional universe generator, not just a fictional universe. With a universe generator, you could get a new start every single time you begin a career, and it makes a *big* difference.

Also in the universes in that game, many of the players have major league experience.

I'm not sure if this came out in a update but to load a fictional database when the computer asks you wat year to select... select 2005 and when you get to the screen where you choose your team click fictional players in the game options located just below the game difficulty.
