Hey I was wondering before i buy this game if they have fixed the windows 98 problems. So does anyone know? I will still buy it eventually but im gonna wait longer if it still doesnt work well with windows 98. I like to play when i travel and my laptop has windows 98, unlike my desktop(XP).
FYI...Windows 98 is 7 years old. Might be time for an upgrade.

a lot of people still use windows 98. it is a cheap OS that everybody knows how to use.Quote:

Well its a kinda old laptop that im not going to update to XP right now. Maybe eventually, but eh...i'm lazy like that. So anyone use it?

So what kind of problems does it have with 98?
(sorry about the critisism. I see a 98 or better yet, a 95 machine, and I think about putting it in a museum)
It puts negotiation screens in the background everytime along with the edit player window. Also on the pitching screen everything was spread out wrong so stats didnt match up to where they should, i'll attach a picture of that like i did back in the beta discussion area, i was never told if it was fixed.
Oh yeah, I could go up to 2000, but if im gonna do that i might as well go to XP, its just i dont feel like messing with that stuff right now.
might not be a thing that will be fixed due to the age of the OS. Backwards compatability is a dicy thing at best and can be a disaster at worst.
I work at a software company and when someone calls us the first thing we ask is "do you have the latest version?" Had someone a couple of weeks ago with Windows 95...I told him you don't need an IT person, you need a palentologist. Remember, the issue could be fixed at 0 expense for the company, if you upgrade.

I'm not gonna ask for them to be fixed if im the only one using 98 at the moment, I was just wondering if it worked better than the beta. And if it doesnt then Clay should take 98 off the required OS list... since it doesnt work well with 98.
hopefully it can be patch up... I will direct clay to this thread.:)
I'm still using Win98 on my desktop and it will NOT be upgraded, as I also run alot of old DOS games on it. Those games in most cases will not run with the newer OS systems. I do run WinXPPro on my laptop, so if forced to I can use this machine to play BBM, although I'd like the flexibility to do so on both machines.Quote:

Yep you sound like the opposite of me, 98 on laptop and XP on desktop.

I hate hearing that **** ... I've used Windows 2000, Win ME and Win XP, and as far as ease of use, I prefer the layout of Win 98. XP has more functionality, but since Service Pack 2, when Microsoft didn't include details of everything the update changed (settings-wise) I am still finding things I have to reset. And until Microsoft releases a bug free (or at least hack free) OS, telling people they should upgrade just because their system is old is b.s.Quote:

And I alerted Clay to the Win 98 problem THREE WEEKS ago, and if he didn't take Windows 98 off the "recommended" list, then they really DIDN'T listen to much beta-testing. Complain that people should upgrade all you want: if a company posts Windows 98 among accepted OS's, they have to be sure the game will work properly on that OS. I tested it on 98 and XP, and it did NOT work acceptably on 98. I don't know about 8.0 (the official "pay" release). But 7.76, the last one I tested on, did NOT have win 98 compatibility fixed.Quote:

Hey Guys,
We set up a Win98 machine here when we got problem reports during beta. We tested the game thoroughly on that machine and thought we fixed all the issues.
What's really weird is that some of the features that are messed up in Win98 according to the screen shots are features that I PROGRAMMED on a _Win95_ machine (e.g. the Lineup Dialog).
So I'm still confused, and still trying to figure out what's wrong.
Try changing the font sizes and/or screen resolution on your machine and let me know if that helps. I'll keep working on this end. And if you need a refund, send me your order info at:

Good luck on the hack free OS. Buy a Mac if you want that. And the only reason Microsoft gets hit a lot is not because Apple has found some magic way to keep it from happening, it's because Microsoft is in like 95% of the PC's out there.Quote:

Upgrading is the top thing you do in troubleshooting a problem. It's not BS it's troubleshooting 101. Old systems are called legacy systems for a reason. For your personal PC, stay with something for a while. In a business, it's suicide. You like flash memory sticks? Try using one in a 95 system. Your lucky if you have 98SE, you can download a driver. Or you can just continue to use your floppy disk.

Ha, no, actually i just signed up for the thing yesterday, all these questions are legit questions. The other topic "Pad" or whatever i just did it there cause nobody else there was doing anything productive in it so i figured why not join in with my link. And i put the link at the bottom in hopes someone will join and stuff. Some people advertise their webpages or whatever in their posts, too. If your gonna just "pad" your stats you might as well put some content anyways.

It's easy, just go to user cp at the top right then to edit profile. All you have to do then is paste it in.

I for one, appreciate the offer of a refund. However, as I mentioned in my earlier post, I also have a lap-top (running WinXPPro), so I will just confine my BBM gaming to that machine. It would not be right to request a refund, when I can play the game without this issue on another machine. I do hope that you are able to track down the problem, as I would enjoy being able to play the game on my desktop. Thanks,

Alright i gave in and installed XP on my laptop, probably a good thing in the long run but now i got a bunch compatibility issues and having to reinstall something and find drives, oh well. Baseball mogul now works fine for me. But i still hope that a problem can be resolved for anyone still using windows 98.
I'm NON-ENGLISH user, so we ARE NOT use english in Windows. ^^
But there is the same problem(Broken and missing in Pitcher List) in my WIN98.
And "Sans Serif" font is named by "MS Sans Serif", not "Microsoft Sans Serif" in most WIN98.
Maybe Clay knows 'bout the point(compile working).
Please check about it...
