well, part of the 2 for 1 is that i needed to release someone to make room to bring Sandoval back off the DL. I honestly like my pay team alot and Middlebrooks was the guy i was going to have to drop more than likely. I have two more tough decision as Tulo & Fister are coming off the DL likely next week. Who would you drop to get in Tulo & Fister? I'm thinking Liriano and I guess Delmon Young. I need RBI & HR's badly so losing Young's middle of the order bat in DET hurts. Campana is the next choice but the kids speed is sick and him and Gordan have gotten me caught up with a pack where 4 or so points are at stake.Quote:

i've got man love for liriano, always have. him and matt cain are two i coveted in AA ball and have followed their careers closely. his last three starts have been good. his WHIP is just over 1.00 in the last three starts. the most recent fell apart in the latter innings. if it weren't for that 3-run sixth he'd be viewed as one of the games hottest pitchers. he could be getting it together and harnessing that talent. more likely i agree, he'll continue to be inconsistent and frustrating.Quote:

I think you're focusing way too much on sample sizes that are way too small. Over the last 4 years (2009-2012), Liriano has had one good season and has been putrid otherwise, with the worst of the performance coming last year and into this year. Same for Delmon Young, except you can extend that out to his entire career. Hell, even over the last month which you reference, he hasn't been good - .282/.295/.466 - Yahoo has him ranked 253rd over the last 30 days in fantasy, 64th among outfielders. Your league would need to be something like 15 teams (assuming 4 OF spots per team, which is 1 more than the standard league) for him to even have been worth starting over the last month.Quote:

Delmon Young's hot streaks are hard to bet on because he is so easy to pitch around and does little to help himself at the plate. He's not a + power guy either. It's far more likely that he goes back into the tank, than that he stays hot and the RBIs come.
So since I added Trevor Plouffe on the 13th he is 4-11 with 4 HR, 4 R, and 4 RBI
I hate the feeling that Lincecum is probably a must start against the Mariners.
Aaron Hill 4/4 with 3 runs and a HR while on my bench :mad:. He has been red hot. I have to get him in my lineup!

Dynasty keeper league, Cup is in first and dicekay is in last. Personally I don't expect Peavy to pitch like an ace all year though he's a nice starter, and Beltran is great but I'd have considered Pedroia straight up for those two. If his thumb does hamper him the rest of this season, i'm more than happy to have him healthy next year. I'll roll the dice with Lincecom's talents and Howard and Crawford are nice throw-ins who could revert to solid fantasy performers later this year or next year.
Love it for whoever got the Pedroia/Lincecum/Howard/Crawford package, esp. for a keeper league.

With Hellickson & Ellsbury, the addition of Howard & Crawford gives me four guys on the DL in a league with only two DL slots and a small bench. I also have Trevor Bauer whom I don't want to drop being a dynasty league though may soon have to unless I wnat to truly throw in the towel on this season which is not the way I operate.

This is the reason i love this trade so much. My team is in first place & i just traded 4 guys who have contributed NOTHING to my team this year. In return I recieved the 8th best player overall in fantasy & the 8th best pitcher. There is almost no risk involved in me making this trade. If Peavy & Beltran get hurt tomorrow ( which is possible considering their histories)I'm no worse off, at least for this season. I'm a win now guy, i'm not a build for the future guy. Even so trading those 4 guys doesn't even hurt me long term as I have plenty of other good players. Pedroia has been terrible this year(17th ranked 2B) I believe he is hurt bad and should go on the DL. This league thought so highly of Ryan Howard that he wasn't even owned. I got him out of the FA. A 30+ year old player coming off a major injury who is a big ? But will for sure kill you in one category(k). Carl Crawford was terrible last year and who knows when he's coming back and if his elbow will hold up. Lincy is a mess & this is a 9 team league so unless he returns to being a top end starter his value is minimal. I have no regrets and love this deal. Like I said I traded 4 players who gave me no contributions this year and got back two of the top players in fantasy so far this year.Quote:

Jose Altuve for Josh Reddick and Brett Myers. Thoughts?

without diving deeply into stats, I value Reddick more than Altuve...maybe I'm just not aware of Altuve's pedigree.
Myers is an end-of-career closer that will be traded and become a setup man by the deadline...so his value is near nil to me.
So all in all, unless the person trading Reddick has tons of OF depth and badly needs a young 2B, this looks like a bad move (for him).
Getting Altuve lets me move Seager to SS where he would be a lot more valuable. And I was able to pick up Belt from FA to take Reddick's spot in LF. I've been trying to move Myers for a while so he didn't really matter to me. And if Belt or some other FA don't work out, I can always move one of my RF for a LF.
I like the Altuve side better but it is close and certainly a fair deal. I'm just not very high on Reddick.
I traded Altuve, and certainly like how he has produced for me this season. That said, I have Cano @ 2nd, and really need the extra OFer.
Reddick will take D. Jennings place on the starting lineup. I feel confident he (Reddick) will outproduce him going forward.

I am riding the same wisdom wave and sitting Shields against the Tigers today. He hasn't been sharp his last two times out, losing to Philly last start, and the DET offense has enough big boppers to scare me.
