I got Josh Johnson, Tim lincecum & Yovanni Gallardo starting tonight. Before the season you would've thought that was pretty good top 3. But two months in, i'm wondering how bad my ERA and WHIP will suffer tonight.:(

I'm starting Cliff Lee, and sitting Lohse.
Lee is winless, and Lohse was amazing in April...I'm hoping the Phils offense plays well and Lee gets a dominant win.
In my H2H league my pitching has been amazing...winning all 9 categories. My hitters are behind in every offensive category except Steals tho...I need avg and OBP bad.
I need to pick up an OF. Who should I grab?
Campana
Nieuwenhuis
Dirks
Boesch
Soriano
Alonso
Picking up Harper today worked out nicely :)
I paid $4 for R.A. Dickey in my auction league. Yep, that seems to be my steal of the draft so far.
I have Weaver and Sale going today in a league. when I started today I wasn't expecting to be Sale with 26 points and 14 Ks
I played Sale, and sat Weaver.
Because I is a genius
Figlet's Flounders no longer in first place :( It was a good run.
OF spot: Quentin or Dayan Viciedo? I'm currently sticking with Quentin - this league counts OBP and Viciedo's is .311.
C spot: Salty or Jesus Montero? Salty's got more homers, better average, and plays in a better lineup...
If you had asked a lot of the Montero hypers who would be better at this point in the season, Salty or Montero, I bet they would not have predicted correctly.
and kemp back to dl? I will never get above 10th place :-(
Bud Norris *sigh*
Glad I sat Norris.
My Roto league roster has 5 guys on the DL now -
Andrew Bailey
Doug Fister
Carlos Santana
Desmond Jennings
Tulo
wtf injuries
Ahh!! I don't know what to do. I'm tied in wins and all I have is Phil Hughes vs. Det. My opponent has noone pitching. But I have a small lead in ERA. What is more likely: Hughes implodes and costs me ERA or he out pitches Verlander and gets the win? I know the answer but I hate just giving up on a category.
It's a deep league. 14 teams. Hughes is a good k guy. He was a stud today. I got another dilemma. I'm currently 5-6-3. in my matchup. Runs and SB are tied & I have a one strikeout batted lead. I got Holliday, Matt Adams and David Wright going. He's got Molina. Now if I start all 3 I will prolly lose the K category, but have a good shot at getting the runs. Right now I have Adams and Holliday on the bench. My hope is Wright can get a SB, score a run and doesn't strikeout. Of course it could back fire like the Hughes decision. Damn. H2h kills roto. A million more decisions to be made and a lot funner! Sunday night baseball gonna be a blast!!!!!111
No!!! Molina just stole a base!!! And he's prolly gonna score a run..
I already have Jason Kipnis in my H2H league and could use more pitching. JJ is on the waiver wire.
Drop Omar Infante for JJ?
Im the genius who picked up R.A Dickey :). Although my team went 2/35 hitting today.
in my pay league, the last place team is dealing Pujols & Cliff Lee to another team in the league for Jason Kipnis & Michael Morse. Try not to jump just on the big names and write it without looking. Give it an honest look and let me know your thoughts on whether or not this is a BS deal.
It's got nothing to do with the big names, it's just a trade of two of the best players in baseball with unassailable track records, sent in exchange for a decent but unspectacular rookie 2B and an oft-injured late bloomer. BS isn't strong enough to describe that trade.
alright, it seemed so outlandish to me I thought maybe there's just something i'm missing. Middle infielders are golden right now as there are so few that provide decent power numbers and Kipnis is having a great season. If Pujols hit in May how he did in April I could see how someone might be dumb enough to think he needed to cash in on his history and that he wasn't going to come out of it. But Pujols was solid in May and is turning it around.
The trade is collusive, it's very obvious and infuriating tbh. I tried through much of the season to get Pujols from him and he wouldn't budge, says he's not moving him. The guys finally doing good but his team sucks so he pawns him off for a hand job to a buddy.
veto it or challenge it or drop from the league, its BS.
Kipnis may be unproven but he's having a really good year and people are high on him - the combo of average, power and speed is nice. Morse should be worthless - just came back from injury and doesn't look good at all. Saw him strikeout and otherwise act goofy yesterday in Fenway. Sure he has a breakout season in the books, but being older and coming back from injury, its not guaranteed.
On the other hand, Pujols has not been himself, and Lee is winless through over 2 months of the season...and also missed time due to injury. I could see dealing one of them for Kipnis/Morse - maybe - but not both, given their track records its just silly.
It's certainly not Lee's fault he's winless. He's due to pick up some Ws based purely on the fact that he's pitching extremely well. He's a K-an-inning guy with a sub-3 ERA and a WHIP around 1.
I wouldn't do either of them for Kipnis and Morse, much less both. Dickay, your league is getting screwed. Get your commish to nix this deal yesterday.
Come on, AOW, I thought you were above this. Lee is winless because he's gotten 3.16 runs of support. Dude pitched a 10 inning shutout and didn't get the win. Lee's been his usual awesome self. Pujols and Lee are both individually worth far more than Kipnis/Morse together.
And I will bet you real American money he ISN'T the top-ranked 2B in fantasy baseball by the end of the season.
What ratings are you using, anyway? CBS sports has him second to Brandon Phillips, but that doesn't make a whole heckuva a lot of sense since Brandon Phillips has been awful.
http://games.espn.go.com/flb/playerraterOf course it all depends on the categories of your league but the point I was making is that Kipnis has been a fantasy stud this year & you guys were dismissing him like he was garbage. I could care less about his real life value. Fantasy is totally different. I would not be surprised if he was the number 1 2b at the end of the year.
Edit: The rankings you listed seem to be based on projections for the next week. If you click on were it says rest of year it his Kipnis as number 1. Thats projections not actual stats though. The one I am talking about are based on how the players have performed so far this year.
/hey now, I know how much Lee is worth, sure. I was just saying, in this season of Lincy/JJ crashing down to earth, some idiot may see Lee's season stats and decide to trade low with him being winless.
I think wins are mostly stupid, stat-wise, but it is a standard 5x5 category, and its one Lee hasn't happened to help out in. And of course its partially stupid because he is limited to helping on one side of the equation only (altho he could hit more homers, I suppose).
i agree people undervalue Kipnis, which is why I posted this trade for discussion. It's not so much undervaluing kipnis either, it's the fact that there's such a dearth of production from 2B that makes him even more valuable. 1B I feel is much much much easier to find some production.
I agree with the comments though that Morse is basically a non-value. You can find similar talents in FA in most leagues. He's got talent, but coming off an injury he's not worth much right now. Lee has been stellar even w/o the wins. Pujols & Lee IMO is way too much to give up for Kipnis, but Kipnis is worth much more than people are giving him credit for.
i don't think he's being judged in relation with those however based upon what he's done by many. kipnis is being judged based upon what he hasn't done. kipnis has outperformed them two this year pretty substantially at a key position no less. Pujols & Lee however have a track record and Pujols has been hitting great the past month. if kipnis performed at the same level all year long, which may be unlikely but not impossible, than kipnis would end up being more valuable at least for this year. Those are the type of gambles people make all the time in fantasy.
and as for Lee and his wins HGM. his lack of wins could be predictive IF one believes that the Philly offense is going to be poor. i don't know why one would think that but if one was analyzing the phillies and felt they'd be in the bottom third in runs scored the rest of the way through than one could predict Lee might have trouble helping them in the wins category. Nobody drafts King Felix for wins.
I still think this was a terrible trade and worthy of a veto though not nearly as bad as I originally thought. in fact, i'd think the pujols owner would be stupid but if it were just pujols for kipnis i wouldn't veto it. if something else of value besides or in addition to morse were included i'd let it fly too. gotta let people run their teams and take gambles.
He's gotten a run less of support than the Phillies have overall runs per game - that's not predictive unless you think that the Phillies offense, for some reason, does worse with Lee on the mound than otherwise.
But you wouldn't trade him for a much lesser player because good pitchers still get wins (he did lead the AL in wins in 2009 despite the Mariners scoring a quarter less runs per game than the next worse team).
I'm going to keep beating the Kipnis drum here. ESPN has him ranked as the 5th best player OVERALL in fantasy so far. Yahoo has him ranked 6th. Just checking out his stats, I see no reason why he can't continue preforming at this level. It's not like he is some journey man player. It's his 2nd year. His stats are pretty much in line with what he did last year & in the minors. He has cut down on the k's, his BABIP is inline with what he has always done. His HR/FB is actually way down, so the power is legit and maybe he's even been unlucky. He's running alot more. Maybe you can make an argument that CLE offense in whole is playing over it's head and his R's and RBI's might decline. But I think Kipnis is a legit fantasy star. I think the trade is BS. But I wouldn't have a problem with Lee or Pujols straight up for Kipnis. I'd be willing to bet that the Kipnis owner prolly wouldn't even make that deal becuase 2Nd basemen are so scarce. People focus too much on the names and stats that have no meaning in fantasy. New stars emerge and old stars age and become less productive, happens all the time.
