Is L.A. a Dodger Town or Angel Town?

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, who spent his entire 14-year career as a major league player with the New York Yankees, said Tuesday that despite the major offseason moves and high expectations of the crosstown Los Angeles Angels, the Dodgers still own the Southland.
"It's kind of like Mets-Yankees," Mattingly said just before the Dodgers' first full-squad workout of spring training. "The Yankees are the team. [The Mets] are going to have their years when they play well, but the Yankees are still the team. I don't want to badmouth the Angels at all. Mr. [Angels owner Arte] Moreno has done a great job down there in Anaheim, and [Angels manager] Mike [Scioscia] does a great job. But we're the Dodgers, and that isn't going to change."
Dodgers haven't done squat since I was 7. Yeah, 24 years ago. I guess it is Dodger town if you count the violence towards opposing fans, or if you enjoy quality ownership like the McCourts have brought to it.

Re: Is L.A. a Dodger Town or Angel Town?
i think it's a good poll question. too many haters trollin though ;)
from someone who's across the country but visits it for work once a year...i've always felt it a Dodgers town. The prevailing thought I hear though is that they have become the team of preference for the large latino population as well as, and unfortunately, many of the gangs. Thats the common theme i hear anyhow. I don't know if its guilt by association and because their fan base is growing largely in latino community that many old time dodger fans are now associating the dodgers with gangs and thugs, or if actual gang members are going to these games with any regularity.
either way, the dodger local fan base has changed dramatically and not for the better. whether or not the stadium is filled with gang bangers, right or wrong the local perception amongst a growing percentage of white baseball fans seems that it is. that as much as anything is likely leveling the playing field of sorts with the Angels who now are carrying the attributes the Dodgers used to (professional, family oriented, upstanding citizens, etc)
i'd say it's still a dodger town, but changing quickly.

Go Angels!
(Haven't lived in that area since 1983, and I haven't been to the big A since... 1981? Still, it'll always be Angeltown to me. :))
