Whoever told you that is an idiot. Fυck the Braves. Those pieces of **** don't deserve to be in the playoffs. I'm just glad the Sox blew it too since that will be what is more scrutinized. 9-18 in the month September... yeah, fυck the Braves.

Praise our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I prayed for you Jeffy. I'm glad the Lord answered your prayers tonight.

Re: * * Official 2011 MLB Discussion Thread * *
I'm going to take this moment to discuss one of the stories no one is discussing. That of the St. Louis Cardinals. On January 21, 2011 the St. Louis Cardinals sealed their fate: the fate of a playoff run. How did they seal it so early you might ask? I'll tell you how. Nick Punto was signed to the St. Louis Cardinals on a one year-750,000 dollar deal. Nick took a huge paycut after the Minnesota Twins spread some erroneous information that his grit was no longer gritty enough but he didn't let that bother him. And on September 1, with the Cardinals trailing Atlanta by 8 and a half games, Punto took the St. Louis Cardinals on his back and whispered in their ear "We'll make it boys, you can count on me." In his 35 PA, Punto ravaged opposing pitching in the month of September, hitting .308/.424/.500 that is an OPS of .924. He also hit his only home run of the season in the month of September and had his biggest RBI month with 7. Ladies and gentleman there is only one word for that, CLUTCH.
Nick Punto went to Trabuco Hills High School in the San Diego area. I've never been to that school, but I can assume his classes were: Grit, Hustle, Heart, Determination, and Banging Chicks. Because that is what Nick Punto does. If scientists took a blood sample of Nick Punto, his DNA characteristics would be: 33% Grit, 33% Hustle, 33% Heart, 1% Making the Tigers his *****. So when you are watching the Cardinals play on Saturday, remember why they got there. They got there because of one man:
Nicholas Paul Punto.
Thank you.

Not that the order of the runnerups matter or anything, but Beckett kind of wasn't all that great. He wasn't even in the top ten in the AL in FIP, xFIP or tERA. Top three should be something like Verlander, Sabathia and then one of Felix or Weaver (Hernandez had a lower FIP and xFIP while Weaver had a lower tERA).

Most people aren't slaves to fielding-independent pitching stats when it comes to past value.

Run prevention matters in addition to all the DIPShit over at fangraphs. Also when guys were close in their rWAR+fWAR totals (to get a complete picture: run prevention + DIPShit), I looked at WPA. Beckett: 3.57, Hernandez: 0.48. Looked at this way, Beckett edges out The King, and Weaver kicks the snot out of him...This year.
