Are they going with a 4 man rotation, and a 9 man bullpen then? I ask because I "only" see 13 pitchers on the 25-man roster.

Well then, given that Matt Kemp is also in the hunt as HGM correctly pointed out, no "15 games in MVP" for your mancrush. :p

Just until Morrow gets activated from the DL for his start on Saturday.

You are not a sanctioned member of the "15 Games in MVP" so you therefore have no authority!

Anderson has owned the Sox in his young career. Whats even more maddening is how they seem to always struggle against inferior arms whom they've never seen before.

I like Cameron's little "I'm Walking Here!" routine when he strolled in front of Suzuki on Ells' steal attempt in the eighth.

Given that most of them are good for about 15 pitches before they start throwing the ball over holy hell, they might as well add a few more. Jesus Christ.

Re: * * Official 2011 MLB Discussion Thread * *
Pretty cool thing of Burrell to do.
Quote:
Burrell hit a three-run homer in the Giants' 8-1 rout of Colorado on Monday night.
He also showed he's a fantastic teammate by going to manager Bruce Bochy and asking to be taken out during Tim Lincecum's no-hitter, figuring he was a defensive liability in left field late in the game. "I went in and talked to Bochy and said, 'Listen, I'd hate to be the guy that doesn't get to a ball that somebody else might catch,'' said Burrell, who was replaced by Darren Ford in the middle of the seventh.

yeah, went back and forth on it and figured i'd try to get lackey back after waivers and didn't think it would be an issue, UNLESS he had a great start against OAK. of course, he goes and does just that...so who knows. we'll see. Porcello has seemed to found his stuff in his last start and is facing a shitty offensive team the next two games so i figured i'd try to see if i could ride a wave. maybe too early in the season for this kind of move.

Re: * * Official 2011 MLB Discussion Thread * *
Porcello didn't really find his stuff last start. His numbers were better but his pitching still looked like crap. I'd be fairly surprised if he managed a fantasy-useful day.

only the 4th inning, and i'm sure this will jinx it...but he's doing ok.
i started him in all three of my leagues...so its a big gamble for me :) If he does well, the question i have is do I start him his next start which is also against SEA? concerns me them seeing a guy twice in a week.

Re: * * Official 2011 MLB Discussion Thread * *
He does look much improved right now. Much better breaking pitches. With the way this start has gone, I'd feel comfortable using him against Seattle again.

Re: * * Official 2011 MLB Discussion Thread * *
MLB has taken over day to day operations of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Whoa! Guess they got a bit tired of all the bickering and squawking.

But two people with knowledge of the situation said that he was also strongly considering forcing the sale of the team by invoking his “bests interests of baseball” powers to wrest the team from Frank McCourt, the owner since 2004, who he believes has mismanaged the franchise while enriching himself.

woohoo.....big pickup. i'll start him again against SEA and then maybe release him or at least bench him in his next start against a real offense. don't trust him yet but i like to play a hot hand when they're facing a bad hitting team.

Me: Now that Brennan Boesch made the adjustments in his approach to make solid contact and be successful, he needs to re-incorporate his power to get to the next level.
Dumbass: Dude he's awesome 10th in slugging!!!
Me: Yeah well that's cause he's batting .330. His ISO is .160. That's pretty mediocre for a RF, and he's not going to hit .330 all season.
Dumbass: Ok. Keep telling yourself that he's not hitting well.
Other dumbass: Yeah, why can't you just support the guy? Quit hating!
Me: **facepalm**

Yeah he looked like a pretty solid #3 today. Command was pretty good and kept him out of trouble, got some clutch Ks. He's not going to be going deep into a game or having a 1 hit 9 K performance (his command was shot at about 90 pitches and the last K on Peguero should have been an easy walk), but there's useful upside.

Digging the Red Sox offense of get a hit, then 2 outs, then a long AB, then get the 3rd out. Helping Beckett out there, Sox.

Re: * * Official 2011 MLB Discussion Thread * *
Oakland and Seattle both have an OPS+ of 88 as a team. Game should take about about oh 15 minutes to play.
