wow. so they are hinting that Posada is retiring...
The word is he refused to play because he was insulted to be put in the 9-hole. Apparently he took a hissy fit.
If that's true I've lost any respect I may have had for him. You're by far the worst hitter on the club this year, so take it like a man and not a teen in the middle of puberty.
these guys are idiots. walking pedey was the smart play...gonzo is the slowest guy on the Red Sox. Double play gets them out of the inning
What took you so long to lose any and all respect for the King of the Yankee Douchebags? That's one of those lists you've gotta make a real effort to reach the top of: (from the 2009 Yankees) A-Rod, Shelley Duncan, A.J. Burnett, Josh Towers, Joba Chamberlain and on and on, but Jorge tops them all for me. What an assclown. Here's where I lost any and all respect for him. Even though he only lightly brushed Jesse Carlson after crossing home plate, why bother doing it at all? Or if you're gonna do it, smash him, don't just give him a love tap. Looks like somebody took care of smashing Carlson in the ensuing melee anyhow. ;)
9 days before this brawl the Jays' Randy Ruiz was hit in the face by the Yankees' Josh Towers on an 0-2 pitch. Picture here. While I highly doubt Towers was trying to hit Ruiz, his 1.5 BB/9 career ratio suggest a guy with impeccable control. Sidenote: Anybody can have one get away, but Towers also had a reputation for protecting his own, or as he said following the game in 2007 in which he plunked A-Rod (when Towers was a Jay) in retaliation for A-Rod's "Ha!" game (Howie Clark and John McDonald mistook the utterance for the other one calling "Mine!" on a popup and the ball plopped to the turf - I thought Johnny Mac was gonna kill A-Rod - it takes a lot to piss off the Prime Minister of Defense, but A-Rod sure managed to [picture below]): "Gotta stick up for my boys". Back to 2009: Hill had also been hit earlier on the night Rod Barajas was dragged around by his chest protector in Yankees Stadium. As the announcer mentioned something had been building for a while and Pussyada just had to be the one to spark the powder keg...Because that's who he is. Schmuck. I hope he retires soon, because I can't stand him.
curious your thoughts on Carlson....or do you only look negatively upon thugs on other teams?
i must say i'm surprised the yankees are doing so poorly at keeping this story in house. it seems as if they're going out of their way to make him look like an a$$. Classy organization there

If this were an isolated incident, I might not agree, but Brian Cashman genuinely appears to have lost his marbles and seems to be butting heads with everyone. The animosity of the Jeter negotiations, the strange sideshow at the Soriano contract press conference, that strange appearance as a bartender for charity, and now this. Very un-Cashmanlike. I don't know if he wants out, but he's not doing a great job of demonstrating that he wants to stick around.
This was a fun sequence of events:
