Holy crap this had me laughing

Republicans promote a full ban on abortion, even in cases of rape or abortion. Romney, however, has supported exceptions for rape and incest. So republicans faced with this dissonance say that it's Romney's personal choice - and who are they to tell someone how they should feel on this issue?
Seriously, do conservatives even hear themselves anymore? Their nominee can have personal liberties and the right to choose...but the country can't?

Don't lump all conservatives together please.

I felt like I was starting to favor Democrats more and more.
then I watched the convention tonight and nevermind.
Not that I am not more liberal, but that was a huge turn-off.
It's okay, the Republicans suck too.

Re: Official "What are you thinking about right now?" (Political Version)
So Clinton's speech was great.
But Ted Strickland reinstated support in Jerusalem and Israel. Which I think was odd.

He reminded me of why I really liked him as a president, even if I thought at times he was too conservative. He has a credibility factor that nobody in the Republican party can match, as the last President to leave office with a budget surplus, and is also likely to help with the independent voters more than anyone the Republicans trotted out at their convention. Definitely a good night for Obama.

If there was a Democratic president to like as a conservative, it was Clinton

As a conservative leaning independent, I agree with that.

Just Clinton's speech, and the overall aura of the convention itself.
I am not saying anything bad about the policies, or being liberal.
I just hate the whole Democrat vs Republican crap now. Clinton was a fine president, he is highly charismatic, obviously intelligent.
It's that his entire speech. Everything he wanted to do, was talk about how stupid Republicans were.
It's the same crap Republicans do.
It's just stupid.
I just want something fresh, it's the same crap from both sides.
Also, something interesting to me about tonight.
Obama talked a lot about how important his experience is/has been over the last four years. And how Romney doesn't have the experience and how important that is.
uhhhh, wasn't that the big issue that Democrats blew off four years ago? Now it's okay?
And wasn't another huge campaign issue 'change' and how important it is to change your politicians? That McCain was too much like Bush, and that we needed change?
Just odd how different this campaign is for Obama compared to four years ago.
I don't have a problem with Obama as president, at all really. But the campaigns, the smearing, the Republicans vs Democrats crap is annoying.
It just turned me off. The RNC wasn't any better, so don't take this as a praise to Republicans, slam on Democrats. I don't favor either.
I have become more liberal over the years, just in general. But man, I really hate where politics has taken this country on their own.

No argument from me, I pretty much feel the same way. I feel like we're stuck in this vicious circle of pointing fingers, and its just a drain. I like you, want something fresh and something trustworthy.

Re: Official "What are you thinking about right now?" (Political Version)
I'll take the guy who was trying to work across the aisle. Remember 4 short years ago, when someone took office, kept some guys from the Republican administration in important positions, reached out to get Republicans in his cabinet, and embraced republican ideas? The pretty much center-left guy that's been labelled soshalist/communist/facist/hitler. That guy!
then the tea party got borderline racist, the republicans swung to include them and eliminate middle of the road guys, rejected their own ideas, blocked any appointees effing up the court system, and made it their number one goal to just screw with the president and try to block anything, or dispute everything in court.
I think once BHO wins this election again, and the Repubs realize that they can't just whine and sit on the ball after being out of the presidency for < 2 years and get elected back into it, that maybe they'll be forced to become less ridiculously partisan. And then the Dems (who are by and large the more spineless, appeasing party anyway) will get right back to where they were.
Maybe I'm being hopeful, but that seems more like a factual representation than 'they both hate each other and blame each other for everything LOL!'

No, it wasn't. He didn't talk about how stupid they are, he was talking about how wrong they are. Because objectively, they are.
We have one political party that at least attempts to deal in reality, and one that has gone completely insane. Don't give me this "both parties are just as bad" or "OMG partisan" nonsense, either. The GOP has been hijacked by the crazies. And there is nothing wrong or overly partisan about pointing at this bunch of shitbags and telling them to shape up.

Both parties is bad is not nonsense, unless you like Goldman Sachs and the like contributing to Obamas campaign to the point where regular people that just want someone to do the right thing are ignored. You also have indefinite detention, but I guess because Obama had reservations about it, that's ok too. Yep, the Democrats are really watching out for us for sure.

No, both parties are bad is not nonsense. Both parties are equally bad is. The Democrats are bad, the Republicans are utterly repugnant on every conceivable level.

IDC if the parties is on a sliding scale of bad, they're both bad, and bad is bad. Bad is not good.

lol, this is how the cheerleading puppets need to quantify the argument to continue shaking pom poms for their team. Nobody takes the rah rah crap serious anymore unless you first admit they are "bad"...then you can say..."well they're worst."
no, they are. no, they are so much worst. no, they are the worst ever.
now lets compare di(k sizes.
they are both the same. they are corrupt politicians hell bent on maintaining power by lying to america to further the dissent we have amongst ourselves. Divide and conquer, and you kobie are one of their many puppets doing exactly what they want you to do. kudos.

Oh, cram it. This is your MO ... anytime someone points out their opinion of one party, you accuse them of just being a cheerleader for the other one. Even when I say the Democrats aren't good, I'm still cheerleading for them by saying that the Republicans are worse.
Actually, that's not true. You only accuse people who are critical of Republicans of being "cheerleading puppets."
I could not care less what your opinion is. Save it for someone who does.
-
Re: Official "What are you thinking about right now?" (Political Version)
Tell you what, when you can find me some Democratic politicians attempting to, oh, redefine what rape is, then maybe I'll buy that the Democrats are just as awful as the Republicans.

I could not care less what your opinion is. Shut up.
no, this is your MO. you're such a bleeding heart liberal rubber stamp machine that regardless of what the issue is we all know what your position will be. wherever team blue is. should anyone critique them, "gop is worst" is quickly spewed by you. saying the dems are bad doesn't make that any less apparent.

Is that so. I agree with 100% of what the Democrats do? That's news to me; of course, unlike you I don't assume what other people believe before they tell me.

Because they are. I do not see one thing out there right now where the Republican position is favorable.

What, that I don't like the Republican Party one bit? It's not like I've been particularly shy about saying that. But here's a news flash: Lack of support for Republicans does not equal support for Democrats. Am I more likely than not to throw my lot in with Democrats than Republicans? Of course I am. But I am not a "rubber stamp" for Democratic policies, and you're lying by claiming I am.
"regardless of what the issue is we all know what your position will be"
How about asking instead of assuming, you unrepentant dick.

Re: Official "What are you thinking about right now?" (Political Version)
Saying a vast majority of republicans are certifiably insane isn't something I'd classify as off-the-wall or partisan
The current republican party's base consists of wackos like yomama & pete. To bring this fact to the foreground is not to say that the democatic party is the end-all, be-all of politics. It is simply stating a funny, yet alarming, fact about one of the parties
In fact, I'd think this fact would bother non-crazy conservatives more than liberals b/c it makes everyone hesitant to take any conservatives seriously anymore

Nope! To point this out is to be a Team Blue cheerleader, and to agree with every single thing the Democrats have ever done! So sayeth Dicky.

Apparently you don't know what sarcasm is, re: my response to etothep
You have no "valid point." You flat out said I always agree with everything the Democrats do. Which is a lie. Because it makes it easier for you to marginalize someone and act like you're superior (PROTIP: You're not) when you can simply lie about what they think.

i actually agree with almost all of this, i don't at all disagree with calling republican leadership wackos nor do i disagree that they've been far worst than democrats of late. it's clear however when one uses a sliding scale to hide their blind support for one side on absolutely every issue. It's clear when one is a puppet for their base and buys and sells every talking point fed them. It's clear when one doesn't want to look at something with an open mind and instead wants to be told what to believe.
