It is not out of the realm of possibility that a team can win that division (and host a playoff game) at 7-9.

Bill Simmons had a great solution to that. If you don't win 8 games, your division forfeits it's playoff spot to a third wildcard team.
:/ Ugh.
I agree with the winning the division your in prospect up to the point if you're a losing team. I'm a firm believer that a losing team shouldn't qualify for the post season.
When San Diego qualified at 8-8 and New England was left out at 11-5, I didn't cry foul. I was content. But a 7-9 or 6-10 team qualifying over any team with a .500 or above record to me is bogus. God forbid if they ever got hot and won a championship

Good to see god getting his comeuppance.
How in the Hell is Cards-Niners the Monday nighter? Really? Some idiot in the offseason looked at the match-ups and decided THAT was a premier game that needed a Monday Night showcase?!
what world have you lived in? unfortunately, people blame god all the time when things go wrong.
the lord gives strength to succeed...however we have free will and our lives are not predestined. in addition, how we measure success is likely quite different. i don't think god cares about wins/losses or drops.
This took a bit to find....
I blame god for everything that goes wrong and give myself credit when everything goes right. Suck on that!!!1111one
I said the same exact thing. I was texting a friend of mine about it and he said "Because the Niners were supposed to be good." to which I responded "Yeah, just like each of the past four pre-seasons." Even if they actually had ended up being a consistently competitive team, who actually thought the Cardinals were going to be good this year? After losing Warner and ending up with a massive hole at QB, no real consistent running game, a defense that lost some of it's best players, this year was bound to be a re-building year. ATL - GB or CHI - PHI would have been way better MNF match-ups.
I agree.
Frank Gore injured for the rest of the year? UNHEARD OF.
Sucks for his fantasy owners
Niners-Saints also a MNF game this year
Those Green Bay throwbacks have got to be the worst uni I have ever seen in any sport.
Broncos Chiefs lolwut
Spot on Brad Childress impression there Josh McDaniels. Spot on.
Goddam Kyle Orton only throwing 100 yards.
Brent Grimes interception seals a big road win for the Falcons. Hell mothereffing yes.
Two of the Falcons last four games are against the 1-11 Panthers. Then one against the Seahawks (lol), and one against the Saints. The Saints are the only one I could see them realistically losing to. There should be almost no way they don't end up with homefield advantage throughout the playoffs, and if that happens they should be the odds on favorite in the NFC in the playoffs. I'm giddy right now.
Falcons choke in NFC title game
