and the rout begins
that keyshawn commercial is pretty funny.
jim johnson would be so proud watching the iggle defense today. very aggressive going for the strips.
WTF with the drop w/o in the endzone. too close between the numbers for you avant?
bad lost, I'll prob make one of my long crappy post no 1 cares about tomm.
It's official, Childress got fired, such a surprise. I'm sure Frazier will perform well, he has been a highly regarded DC for quite sometime.
I hope he leaves Minnesota and coaches the Denver Broncos
I was talking to a buddy of mine today. His Grandfather and father both played pro football, he played div I. He, his wife and kid were watching the late game last night when Hobbs took the shot, they were also all on the couch when Collie took his. Last night his wife watched the Hobbs thing play out for a bit, then took her son by the hand and said to my friend. "He is not playing football", and left the room, son in tow. He is hoping it will blow over as he will be ready for peewee..or whatever its called, next year. I wonder how many times that happened the past few weeks as these hits get played over and over again. NFL can't aford to lose too many mom's.
Hobbs is out for the rest of the season, sounds like because he also had a season ending neck injury last year. No surgury needed but too close the same area as last year.
True, but I've never heard of any of Frazier's players ask him to stop talking to them, as T.O. reportedly did to Childress in 2005. Yeah, T.O. is a touchhole, but still.
Good synopsis of why Childress was doomed from the start here: http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post?id=19964
true, and it is a good synopsis. only problem with those things is they are entirely monday morning QB. If its so obvious today, where were they...or anyone...when Childress was signed? As the article says, Childress was highly tougted and sought after by many teams. I think it quite disingenuous to try to sell the MIN fan base with the same logic regarding Frazier. I haven't followed the story so I don't know if he's interim or not. I'd hope not, because I think they really need to get someone with experience at the top spot in there.
DC's also seem to do better as HC's lately and in the past. Mike Tomlin with the Steelers, Mike Smith with the Falcons, Steve Spagnuolo (or however you spell it) with the Rams all as recent hirings. Belicheck, Parcells, Coughlin, and Cowher going back a little further.
You left out the most prominent that of Rex Ryan.
Though DCs have also failed Mike Nolan, Romeo Crennel to name the highest profile.
Also, Wade Phillips
Are they even trying to "sell the MIN fan base with the same logic"? From everything I'm read, Frazier's the interim, not the permanent guy.
And I do remember some eyebrows being raised at the rather lackadaisical interview process conducted by Zygi Wilf in the run-up to naming Childress the coach. It was apparent that Childress was the guy from day one, and the only other interviews were the obligatory Rooney Rule guy and maybe one other.
i don't know. i haven't read up on anything yet today. i only read rages quote about how he's sure Frazier will do well because he's been a highly regarded DC. the Min fan base was fed that about Childress. i doubt the fan base would want to hear that same song about a highly sought after assistant with no head coaching experience.
and as for the interview process...i agree, but its no different than many coaching hirings in the NFL.
I don't know who to be more mad at, NFL.com for not having an injury report on Gates until the last second, or Gates himself for being a little *****. OWIE MY TOE HURTS! Suck it up Tight End.
Fair enough. I know Frazier's been through the interview mill tons of times (I know he was a candidate for the Bills job this past offseason, and I want to say he was also interviewed before the Bills hired Dick Jauron). Which makes me think either he's doing something very right to get all these interviews, or he's saying something very wrong to keep not getting jobs.
Well obviously they've failed. I'm just saying that DC's seem to do better as HC's than OC's.
He may be interim, but I'd be shocked if he wasn't considered for the position on a full-time basis after the season, especially if the team does well under him.
Though I clinched a playoff spot, Chris Johnson continuing to not get carries worries me.
Josh McDaniels should get fired simply for trading Peyton Hillis for Brady Quinn
Rusty Smith 12-22 70yrds 1 INT, vs the worst pass defense ever --
It may be safe to say he may not pan out -- is Jeff George available ??
Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan in an amateur boxing match.
Thanks for killing my playoff hopes there Andre
falcons impressed me today. packers are an elite team...and i'm willing to put falcons in that class as well.
no clue how a banged up g-men team pulled that one out. Ill take it
Huge win for the Falcons today. If there was any doubt if they were for real before that game, it should be gone now.
Looking fw to the Bears vs Eagles game.
That Bills Steelers game is just awesome. ****in Stevie Johnson dropped a sure TD pass, ****er.
:(
Why did PHI basically give Chris Clemons away? Can they not recognize talent or what?
Maybe the Bears ARE good?
Rams in first, not saying much, still though...
